At GoCardless we find creative ways to deliver simple solutions to complex problems. We do this by keeping our development cycles fast, by reviewing and adapting our plans frequently, and by investing in a culture of continuous feedback.

We’re bringing Direct Debit into the digital age, building the best system for taking recurring payments. GoCardless is creating a new international payments network to rival credit and debit cards. Our ambition is to break down barriers so businesses can quickly and easily take payments from anyone, anywhere in the world.

Joining us means you’ll be joining a team building a high-visibility, financially data-driven platform handling £250 Million on a monthly basis. You’ll be part of self-organising groups that build and run their software with full control and ownership. Learn from your mistakes and from the mistake of others and strive for continuous improvement.

Few companies (and even fewer startups) face such engineering and operational complexities. We are also working on some extremely interesting ML predictive models in online Fraud Detection. The ecosystems that we are building require smart engineering, and the use of cutting-edge technologies; we solve tough problems, at high levels of complexity.

We build simple, reliable systems on top of technologies we understand and trust. We're building a brand new Data Engineering team that will sit between Data Science, Site Reliability Engineering and Software Engineering team. As this is a brand new team we are open to technologies but are currently considering Java/Python/Scala, Google Cloud Platform, Docker, Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ and Chef. However, we believe in using the best technologies for each task.

We are looking for people who share our desire to build high-quality products that put customers at the forefront of our development. As a member of our engineering team you will build and improve our products, add new features, and work closely with other teams across the company to define our engineering roadmap and to understand what is most important to the customer.

We value learning and feedback and are committed to encouraging and supporting each other’s professional growth. Moreover, we believe in sharing our knowledge with and contributing to the wide tech community. We frequently host meetups, hackathons, and we open source projects we are proud of.
