Black Biro Recruitment are helping to recruit a Strategic Partnerships Manager who can help our client increase their portfolio of funding partners around the world - institutional funders, private foundations, and corporate CSRs. You are passionate, reliable, deeply collaborative, a quick learner, and thrive in a fast-paced, start-up environment and have International Development experience.
This role will play a key part in increasing income from a diverse range of sources and help drive the company’s ambitious growth plans to achieve even greater impact in the coming years. This role is at very heart of this exciting and meaningful journey.
What are your responsibilities?
* Write proposals that result in funding. Competition for funding is very high, and proposals will need to be of incredibly high calibre, complete with budgets deliverables, milestones, and narrative.
* Engage current partners & scope new ones. Keep current funders excited about the work by reporting on grants. Look for potential partners to work with, explore ways to engage with potential partners already in the pipeline, and identify how the company solution can add value to their work.
* Build relationships. Create lasting relationships through outbound work at industry events, conferences, and deployment trips.
* Cross-team collaboration. Work with the media team to identify opportunities with journalists and assist in writing content for our (and partners’ own platforms). Work with the research team to assist in due diligence and reporting frameworks, leveraging data from our projects to communicate the company’s impact.
* Bring your opinion. Continuously participate in tough & exciting conversations around international development, and technology for development.
* ...and an added perk, you get to assist in deploying projects! Strategic Partnerships support Operations by joining the deployment team 2 times per year with the goal to gather qualitative data (e.g. interviews) from frontline users & beneficiaries to bring back to the team for a deeper understanding of the contexts in which partners fight poverty.
What skills do you need?
Technical Skills:
* Excellent grant writing abilities. Working on exciting projects, you need to convey this and generate enthusiasm in your audience through structured, logical, and punchy persuasion.
* Creativity. You can take a vague remit and come back with a robust solution. Even better, you can independently identify “pain points” within the team and resolve them with out-of-the-box solutions.
* Sector experience. We work closely with partners across international development (specifically tech4dev), philanthropy, and corporate CSR. You have a demonstrated track record of working in one or more of these areas, strong ability to engage directly with actors in them, and an understanding of what it takes to participate in fundraising opportunities and close large grants.
* Client focus. You are a warm and empathetic individual who understands how to build lasting positive relationships with people based on trust, respect, and reliability.
