Nicholas Howard Limited are delighted to be recruiting for a new and exciting role as a People & Skills Officer.

This role forms part of the People & Skills team which sits within the Group People & Places function. It is primarily responsible for; acting as a first point of contact for any employee related queries from both managers and employees, managing payroll, providing support and guidance and undertaking HR related project work. The role reports to the Head of People & Places.

Primary objectives of the role:

* Maintain accurate employee records for all employees.

* Process payroll and related salary deductions and additions on a monthly basis.

* Respond to and resolve employee queries in a timely manner and in line with policy and process.

* Provide exceptional level of service to employees and managers, acting as first point of contact.

* Undertake HR project work as directed by the Head of People & Places.

* Develop and maintain workflows and processes within the HR Information Management System.

Key activities include:

* Respond accurately and in a timely manner to all employee queries, escalating to them Head of People & Places and other managers as required.

* Ensure employees and managers are issued with appropriate documents throughout their employee lifecycle.

* Accurately maintain all HR systems (including the HR Information Management System, Payroll, Pensions, Childcare Voucher Interface, Google Drive and other resources) and all templates and documents used within the team.

* Process the payroll for relevant UK and Ireland based businesses, liaising with third parties to ensure this is completed accurately and in a timely manner each month.

* Promote, facilitate and maintain various compensation and benefit schemes (including eyecare, childcare vouchers, pensions, etc.), liaising with third party benefit providers and employees as relevant.

* Provide full support to the business regarding recruitment and retention, working with managers to actively drive the process, advertising roles internally and externally, liaising with agencies and other external sources, handling applications, carrying out screening, telephone interviews and pre-employment checks.

* Monitor and manage absence processes, including long term sickness, home visits, occupational health and any further support required.

* Use the HR Information Management System reporting tools and other resources to extract accurate and meaningful data needed on a regular and an ad hoc basis for the P&S team and the wider business.

* Liaise with the Head of People & Places and work with team managers to support continuous development, effective performance management and consistency of approach.

* Liaise with the Training Manager, Line Managers and others to facilitate smooth and effective onboarding of new team members and ongoing development needs.

* Champion and role model culture values and behaviours ensuring they are reflected in the handling of people matters.

* Participate in P&S projects, in particular process improvement and initiatives that require partnering with multiple stakeholders in the broader group locations and functions.

Specific skill or knowledge required:

* Good general understanding of Employment law (qualification desirable).

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English).

* Strong administrative and organisational skills.

* Close attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.

* Strong note taking experience, capturing salient points as necessary.

* Ability to prioritise time and effort, dealing with conflicting priorities.

* Highly numerate.

Specific previous experience required:

* Previous experience in HR administration and providing HR advice.

* Previous working experience of HR Information Management Systems in particular designing, implementing and delivering workflows.

* Payroll administration experience (highly desirable).
