Spitfire Audio is largely acknowledged to be the finest purveyor of orchestral samples there is. Having operated initially within the very top end of film and media composition with most, if not all, Hollywood A-listers using and endorsing our approach Spitfire is slowly moving into a broader more mass market by expanding its product range, customer base and geographic reach.

We collaborate with the world's best composers, producers, engineers and studios to create detailed and realistic recordings of instruments and sounds for use in computer-based music production.

The Role:

Spitfire Audio is looking for a creative, experienced Frontend Developer, ideally with a passion for music to help us design our frontend future! The role is ideal for a talented senior developer looking to play a big part in defining the technical and digital design direction of a high end music industry brand, or a truly talented mid-weight frontend developer looking to take on more responsibility.

You will be joining Spitfire Audio at the beginning of our journey towards a fully agile, multi-stream software development department and slot into our cross-functional web development team comprised of both front- and backend developers.

Your first major tasks will be:

* Driving the process of selecting a direction for Spitfire Audio’s frontend development in the years to come, alongside the web team lead and development manager.
* Driving the implementation of said frontend toolset/architecture across our whole platform.
* Redesigning and recomposing our website to a new, fresh, modern, classy version.
* Establishing a good working relationship with our lovely marketing people.

General Responsibilities:

* Collaborating with other engineers, designers and various stakeholders to identify and solve our various frontend/UI challenges.
* Driving the creation and enforcement of coding standards for the frontend team.
* Ensuring that our frontend codebase is healthy and that we are aware of where our technical debt and legacy code problems reside.
* Developing cross-browser and cross-platform compatible solutions.
* Nurturing and mentoring a junior frontender to grow and learn.
* Contributing to making the web development team an awesome place to work!

Candidate Profile:

* At the very least 3+ years of professional, full-time experience writing production code and a strong knowledge of modern frontend development.
* Strong working knowledge of (modular, modern) Javascript, CSS (SASS, SCSS, LESS), HTML5 and responsive design.
* Knowledge of frontend coding best practices and performance optimization.
* Excitement about emerging web technologies and how to progressively use them in projects.

Bonus Skills:

* Any experience with Vue.js, Preact or Reach (or similar) is a big plus.
* As is knowledge of client-side state management and routing.
* Familiarity with modern build tools such as Webpack, Parcel, Grunt/Gulp and similar tools.
* Experience with unit, acceptance or functional testing of frontend code.
* Understanding of Git, jQuery, AJAX techniques, UI design, UX testing, Web accessibility requirements are all a bonus.
