Wonderbly is a unique, award winning startup that lives on the intersection of storytelling, engineering, digital and print. We are building a new class of global publishing business that brings millions of people into our superbly high quality products - as co-creators and audiences - and in doing so empower them to build connections with each other.

We’re calling it Personal Publishing and we believe it’s going to be massive.

Our focus in the near future is with the children market where it all started - creating stunning, uncompromisingly high quality and technically ambitious personalised books for kids. You see, we’re not in the children’s book business. We’re in the business of sparking kids’ imaginations and inspiring boundless self-belief. That might sound a bit over the top, but we truly believe that imaginatively personalised stories are one of the greatest ways to make a child feel loved, unique and capable of anything. To show them that any story they imagine could be their story.

We write, illustrate, build, design, and sell all of our products directly, and have a terrific team working to produce our wonderful products spanning from Art Directors to Dev Ops. Working together we have sold more than 3 million books in every country in the world, and we’re just getting started! With the work you’ll do here with us, we’d like to think we’re on track towards becoming the UK’s most admired creative company.

*Engineering at Wonderbly*
At Wonderbly we take our engineering seriously. We believe in using the right tool for the job at hand.
You’ll be a key hire within our dev team, working alongside other engineers, designers and producers to bring our products to life and make kids smile. You’ll also be engineering for the scale our global business demands while caring about the little details.

*At heart, we’re a creative company and our technology reflects this:*
• Our website is built using React coupled with an truly awesome design system so we can express our product range as beautifully and consistently as possible
• Our product rendering stack is built using a headless browser to bring the power and possibilities of the web to print publishing
• Our customised ecommerce system is based on the open source Solidus project, written in Ruby
• We actively contribute code back to the community while extending support for our ever more personalised product range

Together we form a talented team of individuals mixing experience, gender and domain expertise in our Hackney studio. No-one should ever stop learning so every year you will have a training/conference budget to use at your discretion. We make time to fine-tune our stacks as part of our roadmap and you’ll always be considering ways to improve what we do.. Finally, you’ll love our Lunch & Learn sessions, which can be engineering specific or delivered by an inspirational guest.

The best way to find out more is to apply - we’d love to show you around!

* Our office is full of puppies (Charlie and Manna!)
