ROLI is looking for a talented Senior Javascript Developer to grow our cloud-based music creation platform.
Alongside award-winning hardware and software products, ROLI is building a cloud platform for music creation tools to suit the modern musician. We need a Senior JavaScript developer (you) who is excited about modern web technologies to play a major part in building out our platform and supporting back-end services. We're at a critical point in planning our future developments and we need the experience and insight of a mature developer to help us scale and meet upcoming challenges.

As one of our Senior JavaScript programmers, you will take an active role in platform development, working closely with other developers and key stakeholders within the business. Working primarily on our Mongo, Express & Node.js stack, you will be improving and expanding our RESTful API and related infrastructure as well as planning and building new collaborative online tools to support our expanding suite of products.

You will be a part of a small, close-knit team with a wide remit working across multiple platforms. We do sprints and standups, we communicate a lot, support each other, fight fires, value each other’s opinions and constantly strive to collaboratively improve our working environment. We also do monthly hack days enabling you to get involved elsewhere in the company.

What you’ll do:

- Write JavaScript for our Express/Node.js platform
- Help develop new collaborative online platform tools
- Write tests and documentation for your own code
- Communicate with teams across ROLI to better formulate what needs to be built
- Develop solutions to technical problems wherever you can
- Contribute your fair share to the general well being of our backend services
- Support other team members by reviewing their code and mentoring (we all do this)

What you’ll need:
- Exemplary, performant JavaScript skills
- Advanced experience building RESTful APIs with MongoDB, Express & Node.js
- Solid, hands on experience with AWS & CircleCI (or other CI/CD services)
- Ability to understand where, how and why things go wrong
- Experience with external web service integrations
- A willingness to learn new things
- Experience of working within a small team
- Excellent communication skills, flawless written English
- An inquisitive mind and demonstrable examples of implementing proactive solutions
- Superb and demonstrable time-management skills and the ability to work independently
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels
- A passion for music, technology and/or startups

Bonus points:
- Experience with extra languages including Python, PHP & RubyOnRails
- In-depth experience with devOps, especially AWS & Cloudformation templates
- Working experience of authentication and security (SSO, JWT, OAuth, OWASP)
- Solid understanding of caching strategies and CDNs
