The role


We’re looking to hire a lead developer to join the team as we invest heavily into new products and services within our digital platform. You will need to grow a highly effective development team to deliver our ambitious roadmap plans to realise our business goals. Working with the CTO you will deliver exciting new platforms and services that will increase our capabilities and create exceptional experiences for members and clients.


You will be accountable for:

* The development plan and technical delivery of the product roadmap
* The underlying architecture of the software
* The output and quality of work being completed by the development team
* Stability, security, performance and robustness of our software applications


Your responsibilities will include:

* Leading dev and dev-ops, working with other in-house teams, to deliver what is needed to achieve our business goals
* Growing and managing the capacity of the development team to deliver the product roadmap and business objectives
* Managing the software development team and their performance
* Understanding, communicating and delivering the principles of good software design and development
* Planning / sizing the existing and new development initiatives and delivering them on time and to budget
* Innovation in our technical delivery and product features
* Identifying and adapting the technical infrastructure to adopt new and best practice technologies
* Improving and optimizing the performance and security of existing systems
* Being a hands-on developer delivering code, troubleshooting & code debugging


Requirements:

* At least 5 years’ experience in software programming
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related subject
* Experience leading other software developers
* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
* Technical project management skills
* Management of development teams with SCRUM, Kanban
* Frameworks – pref. PHP, Rails, Django *Sysadmin basics – linux, postgres, nginx – be able to support a small production website
* Salesforce integration experience a plus
* Pref small business or startup experience a plus
* Experience of machine learning and personalisation are desirable although not required
