Hack Partners are looking for a Front End Software Engineer to work with our client in the rail industry on a rapid prototype project, to develop a mobile compatible web application. The tool will demonstrate a mechanism for passengers to play a role in improving rail services.

The project will be made up of 2 full-time roles, a Software Engineer (front end) and a UX Designer. The successful applicant will be able to work remotely, however, we may need them to travel to attend meetings at our office in Old Street up to 3 times during the project. We are only looking for candidates who are immediately available.

*Skills and experience desired*:

*Essential knowledge, understanding and experience in the following*:

*Extensive experience developing interactive web applications.
*Understanding of database technologies like MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
*Experience working with cloud platforms is desirable.
*Good understanding of web fundamentals like HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
*Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
*Ability to implement automated testing platforms and unit tests
*Good understanding/happy to work with of front-end frameworks e.g. react
*Able to build a secure system

*Desirable skills/personal attributes*:

*Good understanding of server-side templating language
*A passion for identifying problems and building solutions.
*An interest or knowledge of the Rail/Transport industry.
*Dynamic self-starter
*Passionate about technology
*Able to fit into an energetic and enthusiastic part of a very slow industry.
