Who are Lumen: We are an ambitious London-based ad tech startup, specialising in the application of eye-tracking technology to market research. Founded in 2013 Lumen has grown fast in its first three years and is seeking to expand its team further. Using state of the art eye-tracking sensors we examine how successfully our clients’ communications engage consumers’ attention and help them find ways to communicate more effectively. We provide behavioural research on the effectiveness of visual communications (including online/paper advertising, direct marketing, in-store, bills, etc.) for some of the UK’s best-known brands. Our business is built on a consulting base that has already reformed how brands measure, plan and execute marketing communications. It is transforming to a real-time ad tech business by creating scalable software products for online advertising that will revolutionise how demand side platform bids in ad exchanges for ad spaces.

The Role: We are looking for a javascript Developer to work on our internal and external client and customer facing services and applications. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a good front-end knowledge, as well as a solid understanding of data structures, algorithms and work flow. You will help us in development of the company’s in-house software that facilitate user behaviour analysis in the context of Human Computer Interaction. This involves inventing novel methods for scalable data acquisition, data mining, data analysis and the best ways to display the resulting dataset back to the user. You will also help to enhance the software to be used in distributed environments. Since we are pioneers in the field, you will help us discover and apply innovative approaches to our existing technology. Finally, you will help to maintain day to day IT affairs of the company.

Requirements: Front-end developer who is willing to build rich, interactive web applications for our AWS cloud-based data driven platform. You should have excellent understanding of HTML, JavaScript (ES5, ES2015+) - including, React.js, vue or similar libraries. We are looking for candidates with at least 3 years of experience who are ready and able to take on a challenge and learn a lot quickly.

Must have skills:
- Excellent HTML5 and JavaScript
- Jquery, AngularJS, React.js, NodeJS or similar libraries
- An undergraduate degree in computer science or software development
- Experience with Version Control Systems (Git or similar)
- Personable, with a patient and detail-oriented approach to work
- Attention to details, strong analytical intuitions and creativity and entrepreneurial flair

Highly desirable skills:
- Working knowledge of Git and project mangement tools like Jira
- Continuous Integration and development with AWS, Circle CI, AppVeyor
- Experience with Webpack, NPM
- Typescript development
- Chrome Extensions (similar to adblocker)

Desirable skills:
- Good understanding of best practice UI and UX
- Responsive web design strategies

Digital: Optimising online creative: A/B testing of design elements to go beyond click-through-based approaches.

Direct: Optimising DM and CRM materials like emails, letters and bills
In-store: We conduct small-scale qualitative in-store studies (using head mounted eye tracking glasses) to understand what elements shoppers actually engage with.
Virtual Reality: Using eye-tracking on 3D virtual environments, we provide a low-cost way of testing following categories at speed and scale: out-of-home advertising creative, packaging designs, in-store studies
Clients: Tesco (bank, mobile, etc.), BT, e.on, NSPCC, Dixons, Carphone warehouse, Morrison, Lidl, Curry’s, Sainsbury’s, Guardian, British Gas, etc.
Working Environment: You will be working within a technical team that includes those working on the Eye Tracking Software and next to those doing the data analysis. We are a fast paced and highly motivated small team who enjoy a weekly sporting event, a socializing event once a month and a trip away as a group once a year (Rome and Barcelona so far).
