Senior DevOps/Developer role

Fluence World Ltd is a funded, early-stage start-up. We are pioneering the use of computational linguistics and machine learning to improve the quality of learning and teaching.

Want to be part of an exciting start-up journey?
We are looking for a competent, experienced DevOps engineer with development experience to help robustly scale and further develop a cutting-edge multi-disciplinary technology.

Do you want to work on the latest tech stack?

We’re currently using some serious tech to achieve our goals, and we’re always looking for ways to improve our tech stack.

We currently leverage:
• Cloud-based infrastructure
• Micro-service architecture
• A combination of NoSQL and MySQL databases
• A combination of programming languages: Python, GoLang, C, PHP

What will I be doing?

We work with big data. To handle millions of requests simultaneously, our technology needs to be efficient and scalable. If you’re interested in dealing with thousands of containers whilst leading the charge on the development of different micro-services, debugging and solving the problems that arise at this scale, we want to hear from you.

As a member of the development team, you won’t be alone. You’ll be liaising regularly with other like-minded developers, bouncing ideas and solving difficult problems.

What experience do I need?

If the above sounds of interest, we encourage you to apply. The kind of experience we are looking for:

· Strong teamwork, flexibility, initiative, communication and organisational skills
· Willingness to constantly learn and improve, challenging yourself to stay at the top of your game
· Strong programming skills
- Preferably with Java, Python, C, GoLang or PHP
· Experience working with Cloud providers
- Bonus points for cloud-based experience/qualifications, particularly AWS.
· Experience working with containers and container orchestration tools
- Bonus points for experience running and/or developing highly concurrent systems. Demos are welcome.

We are all passionate about making a difference and having a positive impact on society. The team regularly has opportunities to work on projects for the Fluence Foundation –the charitable arm of our business.

What do I get?

We understand that working in a start-up isn’t for everyone, however, we like to think that as well as providing an enjoyable place to work, with challenging and difficult problems to solve, we offer a competitive package for our employees.

• Competitive
• 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays)
