toucanBox is an award winning subscription service that provides arts and crafts activities for children aged 3 to 8 years old. We're backed by renowned VCs and have exciting ambitions to grow our strong customer base in the UK and expand internationally.

All products are inspired by Montessori learning and built by educational experts to help develop key skills. Crafts contain the necessary materials, instructions and inspiration to get stuck in and have fun. Each box is personally addressed to the child and delivered straight to the door.

About the role

We are looking for a strong front end developer with a good grasp of the fundamentals of front end application design and a proven record of building tested, robust and scalable solutions. You’ll have experience working in a small multi-disciplinary team building delightful customer-oriented experiences. You can make decisions based on user feedback, testing and data and you enjoy being autonomous. You’ll take full ownership your work, and responsibility for every last detail, from project kick-off to completion.

The team is quite small and nimble. We work using a loosely defined agile process which suits our size, with everyone involved in all stages of the software development life cycle. You like learning new skills and taking on tasks outside your comfort zone - including even some backend development tasks in Ruby.

What do we want from you?

- Demonstrable programming experience in JavaScript.
- Good working knowledge of one or more JS frameworks (e.g. Vue.js, Angular, React)
- Good understanding of agile practices
- Routine use of source control and test frameworks
- ERB templating
- Familiarity with development tools such as npm, Webpack, Bundler, Gulp, etc.
- Responsive web design
- Accessible web design
- You know good UX and visual design when you see it
