ABOUT US

Freetrade is a next-generation investment tech startup, bringing free stock investing to the UK and Europe for the first time ever.

We’ve built a beautiful investing app to trade in real shares, with zero commissions or fees in a fluid, mobile-first experience.

Our mission is to build a totally new culture around investing: millennial-friendly, innovative, customer-first and universally accessible.

With over £4m in funding so far and as the most overfunded company ever on Crowdcube, we're a growing team poised to disrupt the £1.2 trillion UK retail investments market. And that's just the start.

We’re looking for a hands-on but strategic, savvy and well-connected press expert to set and execute on our PR goals, while building a world-class PR team.

THE ROLE

At Freetrade marketing isn’t like at other financial firms - we don’t advertise; we focus on solving tough problems on a deep level instead.

We’ve already built a deeply engaged pre-launch community of 40,000 future customers, but we plan to grow much, much bigger.

PR is a vital part of this. We see PR as much more than just scoring coverage. It’s an integrated part of our comms, driving our most important messages and themes. We don’t care about quick press releases or growth hacks. We’d rather have fewer highly effective stories than hundreds of scattered mentions.

As our PR Manager, you will work as a key member of our growth team, reporting directly to our Head of Growth. You will own our media coverage across tech, mainstream news and more, bringing our story and brand to broad, diverse audiences.

- Building, managing and maintaining relationships with important contacts including journalists, bloggers & influencers
- Collaborating with the different teams within Freetrade and engaging our community to source data and stories
- You will partner with the team to identify key PR themes and messages for us, and work them into a press calendar.
- Using your connections with journalists to bring us into bigger stories where we have relevance

ABOUT YOU

We want you to help supercharge our growth and tell our story through good quality, relevant media: news sites, podcasts, TV, tech media and the traditional press.

- You are experienced leading a PR function.
- You don’t need hand-holding - you are able to identify the most impacting initiatives to work on, and passionate about owning them.
- You have excellent contacts and experience engaging with national and international news & lifestyle, finance & technology media. You have a track record of building strong, productive, long-term relationships with journalists and influencers.
- You don’t just find stories, you build them.
- Your English is flawless and engaging. You probably spotted things you’d improve in this very job spec.
- You are naturally collaborative and thrive on communication.

BENEFITS

- A competitive salary combined with a chance to own part of the company you are building through stock options - we benchmark to US tech companies, not Europe (i.e. meaningful equity).
- Flexible working arrangements (HQ in Soho) and awesome, flexible benefits package
- Macbook Pro, iPhone, Google apps - whatever tools you need to get your job done.
- Opportunity to fast track your knowledge, responsibility and skills in a high growth startup.
- Team away days in cool locations.
- Frequent team lunches in the best food scene in London!

OTHER BENEFITS

Freetrade has been funded by its members through Crowdcube (over £4 million raised). The benefits of this versus traditional VC funding are:

-Your stock options are much more likely to be valuable (i.e. no special rights for investors to be paid before employees)
- We have more flexibility in how we take our product to market and build out our team
- We have 3,000+ investors and 37,000+ on a waiting list without any traditional marketing spend - people already really, really want Freetrade!

Do you think you fit the bill? Then we would love to hear from you! Apply within to hear more.

We are an Equal Opportunity employer committed to a diverse workforce. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, genre, sexual orientation, age, marital status, or disability.
