*About the company*
We are launching a direct-to-consumer healthcare brand focusing on orthodontics. We believe everyone deserves a smile they'll love, however in the UK orthodontic treatment costs £3500 on average - making it only accessible to a few. According to the American Association of Orthodontics, 33% of the population in developed markets would like to get orthodontic treatment, yet 90% cannot afford it. We provide the same custom-fitted invisible aligners as orthodontists, however by changing the distribution channel and putting everything online, we cut the price by 60%.
This service already exists in the US, and the market-leading company in the space is worth over $1bn. No company is dominating in the UK/Europe.
Orthodontists will never find it profitable to lower their prices this far because of their offline overhead costs, leaving this $20bn per year opportunity only open to direct-to-consumer brands.
The company is led by a repeat founder who’s previous startup has gone on to raise $112m.
