Signol is a new, innovative Software as a Service (SaaS) that uses behavioural economics, and best practices in management to help companies increase their productivity, make their employees happier, and reduce their carbon footprint. Building upon our team's academic research ( we are a new solution to climate change, productivity, and workplace communication.

*Job Description/ Why We’re Hiring*

We are currently developing and validating a prototype that will: (i) integrate and analyse revealed fuel-use data; (ii) deliver personalised and actionable behavioural solutions to captains; (iii) build in experimentation and machine learning; and (iv) allow any airline to monitor, measure, and maximise the impact of behavioural change on fuel savings.

We’re looking for a Data Engineer who will play a pivotal role on our team. Responsibilities include:

* Managing the entire data lifecycle, from extraction and cleaning of raw data from clients through to analysis and prototyping, to production of a commercial output;
* Finding ways to automate the feeding of data into the Signol platform;
* Using machine learning techniques to help product designs;
* Supporting data security activities and implementation;
* Automating the back end of the Signol platform.

You’ll be working with a diverse range of people such as economists, behavioural scientists, investors, airline captains, and environmental experts, collaborating on the various layers of the infrastructure for our application. We promise an engaging working environment with a global outlook.

Travel between the U.K. and U.S. (Boston, San Francisco, Hawaii) may be needed in the first year. Our home is currently located in our lovely offices on Hoxton Square, London.

*Data Engineer Skills and Expertise*

To complete all the deliverables, the ideal candidate will have:

* A degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Applied Statistics, Mathematics, Big Data, or in a relevant numerate discipline. A postgraduate degree is preferable.
* Ability to manage the full data life cycle: acquiring data, ETL, exploratory analysis, quantitative research and development, maintaining databases/data systems and quality validation. Extracting data from multiple sources.
* Knowledge of econometric modelling and an ability to understand advanced statistical modelling to identify, analyse, and interpret patterns from complex data sets.
* Ability to use machine learning tools to train data and use statistical techniques to reveal industrially relevant solutions.
* Experience and knowledge of using SQL, and Python to work with large datasets.
* Strong data visualisation skills to present findings to the team and clients in an effective way.
* Familiarity with agile development processes and an ability to work as part of an agile development team.
* Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex analytical concepts to non-specialists both internally and externally.
* An interest in understanding how to change human behaviour using data science, and the benefits it can provide to employees and the environment.
