About the opportunity Polar is a well-respected and successful supplier of commercial windows, doors, curtain walling and associated architectural ironmongery. We've built a reputation for being highly professional, reliable and trustworthy. Now, we're looking for an ambitious, can-do accountant to slot in to our close-knit team. You'll be reporting to and learning from our MD (who is our former FD), gradually taking on his financial responsibilities. Clearly, it's a great opportunity to show what you can do and progress. Part of our senior management team, you'll gain a first-hand perspective on the financial strategy behind a successful contracting and manufacturing business. With the right work-ethic, there's every opportunity to grow into a Financial Director role with us over the next 3-5 years. A hands-on role On paper, this is a typical finance management role. You'll oversee a team to ensure our P&L and balance sheets are maintained to high standards, prepare reports for monthly board meetings, manage and maintain ledgers and take care of weekly cash flow forecasts and reviews. In practice, there's much more to it than that. If you're happy being hands on, you'll be in your element here - a manager and mentor to your three-strong team and a valuable, visible presence for managers across the business, translating financial information into meaningful commercial information. You'll also work with the MD to help prepare forecasts, budgets and projections and liaise externally with accountants, auditors and statutory bodies. About you To apply, you'll need to be a qualified accountant with proven accounting experience in a contracting, construction or manufacturing environment. Analytical and methodical in your approach, you've shown you can manage and motivate a team to share your own high standards. Naturally, you can confidently use Excel and other finance software.
