The Role:

It is a very exciting time for Elsevier's Business Intelligence team and this role will give you experience at the cutting edge of BI technologies. You will:

  • Work closely with different business and technology units to understand their data warehousing and reporting needs
  • Create data warehouses, database designs and implementation
  • Act as a lead and mentor for other developers within team business intelligence capabilities
  • Perform test driven development (TDD) within the Agile software development process
  • Have a good understanding of ETL processes for data loading into data warehouses
  • Develop and maintain reports to the business
  • Contribute to achieving continuous improvement within the standards and processes for the ongoing development
  • Be a confident, pro-active technology and data integration evangelist

Do you have the skills we need?

Requirements:

Experience of the following:

  • ETL tools and processes, Talend is preferable although cross training can be provided
  • Database modelling, design & development within Redshift, Oracle or other database platforms
  • Tableau data visualisation tools
  • Use of AWS and Redshift
  • Agile development – inc use of Jira, continuous integration, continuous delivery
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form relationships across the business

Exposure to the following is desirable:

  • Using test tools and automated tests to support development
  • Oracle 12g database query development and tuning experience
  • Exposure to AWS and Redshift
  • Oracle OBIEE Development
  • Java exposure
  • Any exposure to Master Data Management solutions
