each child to feel secure?
To plan, implement and evaluate appropriate activities. These will be
child-centred, based on the observation of the children and developing
from their own interests. Aspects of the curriculum must reflect the
cultural diversity of the community.
To provide an anti-oppressive and non-discriminatory environment
which combats race, differently abled and gender stereotypes.
To recognise the needs of all the children in the group, both as a
group and as individuals, identifying the needs of children with difficulties.
To undertake and continually assess, record, discuss and monitor
individual children’s development and progress. Then to share this
information with parents/carers.
To help settle children and families into the club according to club policy.
To take part in escorting children from school in line with club policy.
Care for sick children and those suffering from minor injuries within
their group. Administering prescribed medicines and carrying out first
aid where necessary.
Supervise and care for children at snack/mealtimes according to the
club’s snack/mealtime policy.
Toilet and change children when necessary.
To initiate communication and consultation with parents/carers and to
non-judgemental attitude to parents/carers and to respect their views
To work in partnership with parents/carers according to the club’s
aims, and to involve parents/carers in all aspects of the club’s work.
To be an enthusiastic and active member of the club team.
Communicating and working together to improve the consistent care of
each individual child.
To attend and actively participate in staff meetings, planning
meetings and in service training sessions, in order to keep abreast of
current developments in play work. To participate in reviews of the
services and policies of the club with a view to developing and
To be fully aware of the club’s safeguarding policy and to report
matters of concern to the manager/Safeguarding Officer.
To liaise with other professionals eg. Social workers, health visitors…
To participate in a twice yearly appraisal.( Only applicable to
permanent club play workers).
To always wear uniform to the club and to be of smart appearance.
To be responsible for the maintenance and care of the equipment you
use. To report when consumable items are running low.
To be aware of and promote the club’s inclusion and equality policy.
To understand and agree with the aims and policies of the club and be
prepared to put them into practice.
To assist with fund-raising activities.
To be aware of and carry out duties in connection with the club’s
health and safety policy eg. Fire drills, etc. To report any repairs
to the manager.
To observe and respect the club’s no smoking, alcohol and drugs policy.
To participate in the preparation of the children’s snack.
To be responsible for the tidying up after snack/mealtimes and
directly responsible for the tidying up of play activities.
To assist in the development of community links.
To undertake any other duties required by the Manager.
