Applications are invited for this 10PA full time post in GI imaging based in the Department of Radiology at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (KCHFT).

King’s College Hospital NHS Trust (KCH) is one of the largest and busiest in London, with a well-established national and international reputation for clinical excellence, innovation and achievement. The hospital not only serves a diverse, multi-ethnic local population but operates as one of the four major trauma centres within the capital, a major trauma centre for Kent and as a tertiary services centre for neuroscience (including stroke), haematological oncology, cardiac / cardio-thoracic (including PAMI), cystic fibrosis, and hepatobiliary (including liver transplantation) patients.

The activities and development of the Imaging Services reflect those of the Hospital as a whole with integration of both undergraduate and postgraduate training with the service commitments to the institution. Following a Trust wide organisational change in January 2017, the General, Neuro, Breast and Dental Radiology services have come together and are now part of the Critical Care, Radiology and MEP Care Group, which is within the directorate of Networked Care.

This is an additional Consultant post with a remit will be to support the delivery of gastrointestinal imaging across Kings Sites. KCH is a hub for colorectal cancer screening, and with the acquisition of PRUH, has one of the largest referral bases for colon cancer in the UK, and was one of the first centres to perform minimally invasive endoscopic resection for early colonic cancers. KCH is also a tertiary referral centre for complex minimally invasive colorectal surgery, and also for complex colorectal surgery in patients with hepatic co-morbidities. The Radiology Department provides imaging and interventional support, including drainages, biopsies, colorectal stenting and radiofrequency ablation. The Gastroenterology Department also evaluates and treats a significant number of patients with inflammatory bowel disease, specialising in capsule endoscopic and non-invasive evaluation of the small bowel. KCH Radiology Department supports these services with MR, CT enterography, and contrast ultrasound of the small bowel.

In addition, the individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the imaging departments while having a significant commitment to teaching and training of junior staff, medical students and associated professional groups.
