Information Analyst – Band 6

Barts Health NHS Foundation Trust is a forward thinking organisation that is continually looking at ways to improve the way information is used to ensure that we provide the best care to patients. The St Bartholomew’s Site Business Intelligence Unit is looking to recruit a new Information Analyst. This is a specialist role and we are looking for someone with experience in an Informatics service with a passion for data visualisation and analysis.

The post holder will provide expert advice, guidance and support regarding the collection, use and interpretation of management information to the key stakeholders (operational and strategic managers and clinicians).

Although a proportion of time will be spent at their desk, the Information Analyst will also be expected to work within their assigned business area, attending meetings with operational or corporate teams etc. Close working will enable the Site Business Intelligence Unit to deliver a responsive, relevant and proactive service.

Key Responsibilities

  • To understand the strategic objectives of service area and translate these into meaningful and effective reporting processes.

  • Work closely with key stakeholders to develop new management information reports using the most appropriate data visualisation techniques and tools (i.e. Microsoft Excel, SSRS, Qlikview) in response to their information requirements.

  • To support effective operational decision making through timely, consistent and accurate regular reporting

Key Requirements of the Person Specification:

  • Proven experience of working within an informatics function/role

  • You should have the ability to create and maintain information reports, providing analytical commentary to staff of all abilities, on a routine and ad-hoc basis, networking with the relevant key stakeholders to source/define/analyse the data required

  • Demonstrable experience of presenting information to groups of staff

  • Good knowledge of data visualisation tools and techniques demonstrating the ability to convey analysis from complex data sources in an accessible and easily understandable format for organisational decisions

  • Ability to present and explain the result of complex information analysis in a clear and understandable way. You will need to possess a logical and analytical approach to problem solving, be willing to, strong attention to detail, and be able to work under pressure.
