Network Support Engineer
Network Support Engineer Midlands/Home based with travel to Birmingham and London This individual will play a key role in a specialist technical team, personally responsible for delivering key network related elements of a managed support service for a high-profile end client. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled network engineer, with solid security and firewalls knowledge, to further their experience of innovative networking solutions and services. In particular, we are looking for someone who is interested in working with SD-WAN. Key skills/experience/accreditations Cisco Networking Routing & Switching WAN/LAN technologies Knowledge of firewall solutions such as Checkpoint (particularly R80) or equivalent Has achieved, or is working towards Checkpoint CCSA and/or Cisco CCNA Passionate about technology An influencer who is confident to present solutions to board members – explaining technical concepts to non-technical people Experience of creating high quality technical documentation & reports. Any exposure to Software Defined Networking solutions would be advantageous, particularly SilverPeak. Your role. You can be home based, for much of the time, but you will be travelling to customer sites predominantly in Birmingham and London – for the travel element of the role you will be issued with a first-class train pass. You will be providing 3rd line technical support to the client on a variety of systems and technologies, as the networking authority and ‘go to’ person within the business. You will assist with the identification and delivery of technical solutions that will deliver service improvements to the client and its user estate. There will be a fair bit of work on customer sites initially, in line with the projects that are lined up at the moment. With this in mind, there is a need to be quite flexible – there will be times when you are working outside of normal hours to meet deadlines. The individual we are looking for will have a strong technical background, a positive ‘can-do’ attitude and will be looking for a role where they will have autonomy and the chance to further their technical skills, particularly in SD-WAN. Previous knowledge of SD-WAN is not required, but if you are interested in the role, you should be prepared to start investigating! £40,000 - £45,000. Home based – Midlands base preferred in order to be able to get to Birmingham offices as required. There will be some travel to London Euston.
