Electrical Maintenance Engineer, Day shift, Wakefield WF1 Aqumen Recruitment are currently recruiting for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer on a permanent basis for our client in Wakefield WF1 Our client was originally founded in 1878 and today still operates from its original site in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. From its earliest beginnings, they have always specialised in the manufacture of ammonia salts. Over the years the product range has been broadened, whilst at the same time maintaining a key position in ammonia products. The Company is a major supplier to both the domestic and international markets. They have grown substantially over the last 20 years and progress will continue through investment in and development of its core skills and technologies. Their current product range revolves around the use of several key raw materials including Sulphur Dioxide, Carbon Dioxide, Ammonia, Alkali Hydroxides and several key organic acids. These key raw materials are used to produce a wide range of products which are supplied into a broad range of industries. The Company places a strong emphasis on the quality of its products and services, of which adherence to the Corporate Policies and ISO 9001 is an integral part. Salary £32,622 per annum Hours of work are regular days, Monday – Thursday 7am – 4pm & Friday 7am – 12pm Breaks: 30 minute unpaid lunch break Free onsite parking Permanent position Job Purpose: Work as part of the Maintenance Team in order to keep the top tier COMAH site operating in a safe and productive manner, undertaking all duties in accordance with the Health & Safety At Work Act 1974 Key Objectives: Respond to reactive maintenance requests as directed by the Site Support Manager or Site Shift Manager Diagnose problems with: •The site electrical distribution •415v 3-phase, 110v & 240v electrical equipment •Motor control systems •DCS Control systems (Desirable) •PLC based control loop (Desirable) Ensure continued effective operation of site services, including: •Gas powered steam raising boilers •Air compressors •Demineralised water plants •River water cooling system •Cooling tower Some of the maintenance work will be on equipment that requires additional special measures such as: •Equipment in hazardous areas which must comply with DSEAR regulations •Equipment serving specific safety functions which must comply with BS EN 61511 •Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure systems operate efficiently •Carry out routine proof testing of safety instrumented systems an critical alarms •Carry out functional testing of Basic Process Control Systems •Carry out routine calibrations of instrumentation •Carry out small scale electrical installation work as part of minor upgrades or projects Ensure records of all Electrical and Control & Instrumentation systems are accurate and up to date Read and extract information from drawings, specification diagrams and operation and maintenance manuals •Perform other tasks within the level of responsibility and ability as required by Management from time to time •Accountabilities: Work within the company Permit to Work system ensuring the status of all work being performed on electrical equipment is clear Understand all the requirements of the EUK site electrical policy Electrically isolate equipment to the required site standards depending on the type of maintenance work being carried out Minimum 5 years’ experience working in process industry or equivalent Understand and work to the requirements of: •IEE 17th edition wiring regulations •BS 7671 – Wiring regulations •BS EN 61511 – Safety Instrumented Systems (Desirable) •BS EN 60079 – ATEX regulations (Desirable) •Comp Ex 1-4 (Desirable) Key Personal Qualities: •Trouble shooting and problem solving skills •Able to follow and give clear written and verbal instructions, including updates of work progress and hand over of jobs to other technicians and using the CMMS system •High housekeeping standards •Basic IT skills •Self-motivated when working independently and able to work within multidiscipline teams If required, must be willing to undertake a structured training program to ensure technical competence Key attributes below: •PLC experience •DCS experience (But not essential) •Instrumentation experience •Inverter drives experience •Low Voltage distribution knowledge •Maintenance – PPM Wakefield is easily accessible from Castleford, Pontefract, Batley, Dewsbury
