We have a new opportunity not to be missed at New College Swindon for a Personal Tutor to join the team based in Swindon. You will join us on a fixed term contract covering maternity from 4th November to 5th July 2019. In return you will receive a highly competitive salary of £19,048 per annum! As our Personal Tutor you will provide pastoral support and mentoring to a case load of students via group and 1:1 activities to assist in overcoming their barriers to success and develop their wider social and employability skills. Key responsibilities as our Personal Tutor: - Provide 1:1 support to an allocated caseload of tutees - Provide group tutorial input to allocated tutees - Proactively engage in the Partnership of Support by acting as the first port of call for parents/carers of allocated tutees and the intermediary between them and other College staff - Monitor tutee attendance, punctuality, retention and achievement in subjects and other areas - Support tutee progression by development of their skills and oversight of employment or higher education applications and destinations - Make and support appropriate referrals to Student Services and outside specialist agencies Our Ideal Personal Tutor Essential - Minimum of Level 3 qualification in youth work, teaching, -training or a related discipline - Minimum of Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy - A minimum of Level 2 ICT qualification (If not held, successful candidates will be required to undertake a relevant Microsoft qualification within first 12 months of employment) - Prepared to complete any internally accredited tutor training programme - Knowledge of Safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults - Experience of working with young people in educational or other settings Desirable - Understanding of Student Support Services provision - Up to date working knowledge of Microsoft Office - Need to show initiative in advising, supporting and referring students - Experience of group teaching or facilitating of learning - Experience of mentoring, target/goal setting So if you would like to join our team as a Personal Tutor, or find out more information, then please click ‘apply’ today, we’d love to hear from you!
