An exciting new opportunity to join a great Merchant Bank, which has established a leading reputation in the UK market. The purpose of the role is to support the Financial Controller (FC) in understanding and the preparation of the division’s monthly performance and; reporting (to the Division and the Bank), and providing tight financial control over the balance sheet and P&L. Will also support the FC in the assessment of accounting standards and their impact on the division. Be a key point of contact for the business, Group Finance, Central Finance, Credit, Risk, Compliance, Regulatory Reporting, Accounts Payable and Tax. Support with FP&A, such as the budgeting and forecasting processes as and when required. Key Responsibilities: •Responsible for preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations •Support in preparing monthly management accounts, including detailed variance analysis with an ability to understand and explain these movements •Reconcile and prepare all Property intercompany settlements •Support in preparing the Interim and Year end reporting deliverables to Group (including quarterly FinRep reporting) •Support in preparation of quarterly VAT returns •Own the monthly payroll reconciliation process •Reconcile lending system data to the general ledger •Contribute to ad-hoc projects working with FP&A and wider Bank Finance team as necessary •Continually review existing reporting and make/suggest improvements to the quality of information provided •Own the regulatory reporting process (COREP, BoE forms, Pillar 3, and other additional regulatory submissions as required) •Liaise with internal and external auditors as required •Support the FC and FP&A team with the preparation of papers and presentations Risk & Compliance •Ensure that all Governance and Compliance requirements are adhered to and all reporting and reviewing activities required by the Regulatory Bodies are carried out to the standards required Education & Qualifications Essential •Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent) •Degree Educated Skills & Experience Essential •Can demonstrate relevant experience in preparation of monthly reporting •Strong analytical skills and attention to detail; for example looking at large amounts of data to identify trends •Ability to translate large amounts of data into useful information and actionable items. •Advanced Excel and good IT skills •Strong attention to detail •Evidence of taking ownership and making improvements •Strong interpersonal skills •Has a curious and proactive mind-set and understand the ‘why’ •Demonstrable experience of working well within teams and ability to engage with a variety of people across multiple departments. Desirable •Previous experience working in financial services or property.
