IT Support Engineer - Chatham, Kent - Up to £24,000 plus bonus and excellent benefits

I am currently looking for an IT Support Engineer who has strong hands on experience providing 1st & 2nd Line duties along with project experience involving IT change, software and hardware.

This role is 95% hands on and will not require much telephone/remote based support.

You will be part of a close knit IT team of around 8 engineers carrying out everything from simple at desk 1st time fixes, hardware/software/OS projects, telephony and desktop setups, laptop & mobile device rollout's and general IT support across the business.

Daily duties

* Provide 1st and 2nd line support across the business for all internal staff
* Work on multiple IT change projects in teams and as an individual
* To be first line help desk support, recording and expediting reported issues
* To perform daily system operational tasks
* Backup monitoring & tape rotation on Windows, AWD & AS400, ensuring that tapes are sent off site and recorded accurately to the agreed timetable
* To be responsible for monitoring the Network Monitoring System & to escalate issues where necessary
* Liaising with third party maintenance support company as and when necessary
* To be responsible for the upkeep of the I.T. Operations documentation & procedure manuals
* To maintain the Hardware & Software asset register ensuring that acquisitions and disposals are registered
* To assist with technical support as required (additions, moves & changes) to the company’s computer systems with minimum disruption to services.
* To perform Out of Hours technical support when required in line with the agreed rota and terms of support.

Skills required – Essential

* Windows Active Directory – Adding, removing and group policy
* Previous background in a 1st/2nd Line hands on role
* Basic understanding of network concepts
* Excellent verbal communication skills
* Excellent customer service skills
* Any of the following IT qualifications are highly desirable Comp TIA, MCSE, MCP's, CCENT, CCT or CCNA
