Job Title: Technical Support Engineer (IT/Telecoms)

Location: Gloucester, Gloucestershire

Salary: £30K - £38K DOE + Benefits

Our client is a well-established provider of network and telecommunications equipment to their client base. They’re now recruiting for a Technical Support Engineer in Gloucester.


Technical Support Engineer (IT/Telecoms) Responsibilities:
- Provide telephone and email support, responding to requests for assistance and support with a range of SNMP based network management systems (PDH, SDH, Ethernet and wireless-based networking equipment).
- Prepare and test telecoms equipment for client order using test equipment.
- Travel to client’s site on an occasional basis.
- Ensure support calls are logged, updated and followed through to resolution.
- Carry out day to day maintenance, administration and support on all computer/server systems.

Technical Support Engineer (IT/Telecoms) Applicant Requirements:
- Ideally educated to HNC level or above in Telecommunications or another relevant discipline.
- Good understanding of at least two of the following technologies is required with theoretical knowledge of the others: Ethernet/IP/MPLS, layer 2 – layer 4 based Ethernet/IP technologies including MPLS & MPLS-TP, PDH, SDH, cellular technology 2G, 3G and 4G, IoT, Wi-Fi access points and mesh technologies, DWDM, GPON and SNMP management systems, server and PC operating systems.
- Use of testing equipment including oscilloscopes, optical power meters, light sources, frequency counters BERT’s and multi-meters.
- Undertake a call-out rota (One week in every four).
- Prepared to travel; full driving licence.
- Prepared to obtain Security Clearance.

Technical Support Engineer (IT/Telecoms) Benefits:
