Rotherwood Recruitment are working with a reputable and well established manufacturing company based in Burnley. Due to substantial growth and ongoing success they are now looking to recruit a Buyer for their Purchasing Department. They are looking for someone with the relevant experience and attitude to strengthen the department and better share the workload of the department.

Role Responsibilities:

* Raise and amend purchase orders via SAP as required by MRP

* Initiate savings initiatives and work towards a set annual target

* Champion process improvements

* Negotiate prices

* Formal tender preparation via RFQ and NPD process

* Update and maintain material pricing on SAP

* MRO (maintenance, repairs, operations) buying

* Compile monthly vendor rating reports

* Monitor and manage OTIF expectations of supply base

* Liaise and develop good communications with suppliers

* Deal and invoice queries and other queries (internal and external) as required, ensuring a timely response

* Provide detailed and timely responses to customer concerns via set procedures

* Provide additional cover with other areas of the department during holiday/busy periods

* Communicate effectively to all levels with the business

* To promote and implement relevant company policies and procedures

* To represent the company in a professional manner

* To maintain a flexible and enthusiastic approach to company matters, upholding the company values at all times

* To liaise with colleagues and superiors on day to day duties and issues

* To maintain all health and safety and environmental standards within the workplace and adhere to all company working practices.

In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by the manager from time to time.

Skills and attributes:

* Reporting to the purchasing manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the purchasing function, from building key relations with a diverse supplier base, to order administration, material requirement planning and price negotiation.

* Applicants should be assertive and confident individuals with exceptional communication skills, particularly over the telephone and should be able to demonstrate a strong background of negotiation and proven cost savings.

* Organisational skills are key as is self-motivation and experience of working on their own initiative

* Applicants should possess or be working towards the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Post Graduate Diploma and ideally possess at least 5 years recent buying experience within a similar size manufacturing organisation.

* Candidate must possess excellent I.T skills, be tenacious,hardworking individuals who have a desire to succeed.
