Do you want to work for an exciting event as a Retail Sales Manager?

Are you available from 15th October until the beginning of January? If so, this could be the ideal role for you!

My client is looking for an enthusiastic individual who can motivate retail staff to improve sales and provide great guest experience. You need to be able to work with and manage all types of people.

Working hours:

October 9am-5pm

November/December (when the event starts) 10-12-hour days and some weekends

January- 1-week handover after the event has finished

Salary £130-£150 a day!

Due to the long hours, the right candidate will need to be someone with large enthusiasm for the event, the ability to do all hours in order to get the job done and someone fun but authoritative that staff will respect.


The Retail Sales Manager’s role is to manage the delivery of the retail proposition onsite at the event and is focused on providing great guest experience through managing staffs training and engagement, and all day to day retail activities on the shop floor. The RSM will ensure that sales targets are achieved, retail staffing and consumable costs are within budget and that all retail transactions are accurately executed. The RSM will work with the finance team to ensure that the daily sales records are accurate, that stock wastage is minimised, and cash management is simple and effective.



-Full awareness of current retail strategies including product and visual merchandising and sales forecasts prior to site launch

-Work closely with the Head of Retail to ensure that the layout of the retail stores reflect the event’s VM strategy and that sales opportunities are maximised

-Manage the on-boarding and guest service training of retail staff in line with the event brief

-Ensure that all team members are fully briefed in till operations and proper procedures for serving Guests and ensuring that accurate daily opening and closing of tills is conducted throughout the site


-Implement VM strategy and zonal planograms and work with Head of Retail to evaluate Visual Merchandising within stores and execute agreed changes in a timely manner to drive sales

-Ensure Retail staff complete store replenishment before stores open each day, and throughout day between performances

-Ensure any stock movements driven by the sales team are properly recorded and any stock wastage is minimised and properly accounted for

-Conduct daily debriefs with HoR, ROM & The Finance Manager regarding staff, stock and store performance

-Complete daily and other periodic reporting as required

-Brief staff in loss prevention and work with Security team to minimise theft from stores

-Manage site retail operational spend – ensure all spend including staffing is properly processed, within budget and signed off by HoR

-Collate and respond to customer complaints ensuring any issues are escalated as appropriate and remedial action taken to avoid repeat issues

-Feedback product/packaging suggestions to Retail Head Office team for future events by email

-Lead opening or closing each day – floats, tills, stock, and include a daily motivating staff briefing which includes feedback on prior day performance and any issues which have arisen


-Work with HoR, ROM and Finance to devise and deliver retail training programme prior to training week (12th November 2018)

-Ensure all staff are fully trained and capable of delivering a premium customer experience whilst delivering sales targets and consistently adhering to operational procedures

-Plan staffing rotas for each retail store – ensuring stores have optimal staffing levels throughout each day during the event whilst minimising staffing costs

-Plan shift patterns and breaks ensuring these comply with all legislation

-Work with Retail Supervisors and ROM to educate, motivate and coach cast throughout the event

-Manage Retail Supervisors and wider retail team, particularly ensuring the supervisors are fully briefed and motivated to lead their teams to achieve the retail strategy

-Maintain and improve morale of staff during the event ensuring HR issues are resolved quickly

-Work in conjunction with Magic Memories to ensure staff are fully trained and engaged, and optimise sales in both the Magic Memories and the Farewell Forest retail space

-Implement incentive programme for cast as agreed with HoR

-Manage time sheets of Retail staff and submit to HoR/HR

-Ensure all Health and Safety and other regulatory requirements are adhered to for all retail staff and Guests within the retail areas of the Event site. Maintain proper Health and Safety records for compliance and any relevant incidents

-Cover for ROM when necessary


-Ensure Retail staff work within the events code of conduct and to the Company Loss Prevention policy

-Escalate issues through proper channels and follow appropriate procedures


Essential Experience:

-Management of multiple retail stores in an Event environment with responsibility for the accuracy of floats, daily takings and the cashing up process

-Management of a large retail team, with proven success of delivering sales

-Use of an integrated EPOS system

-Delivery of excellent guest experience

-Creation and delivery of training materials and training sessions

-Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety and other regulatory requirements impacting the retail team on the shop floor

Desirable Experience:

-Experience of managing stock within and between outlets and ensuring that display quality is maintained throughout the event

-Visual merchandising experience

Skills / Knowledge

-Clear and effective communication skills, both orally and in writing

-Decisive with the ability to sensitively and effectively manage any shop floor or operational issues as they arise

-Demonstrable ability to motivate and engage Retail staff to achieve targets and deliver a great customer experience

-Collaborative - actively and positively engage with the wider management team to ensure the retail sales operations work effectively across all stakeholders

-Commercially aware with desire and ability to develop the events Brand Ambassador
