Lead Systems Analyst – Reigate

Description: Summary of Role

The Systems Analyst team is part of the Analysis and Design Team. The role of the Systems Analyst team is to enhance and maintain a market leading pension administration system.

The role is to lead and manage the Systems Analyst team while working closely with the Business Analysis team, end users and third party service providers as appropriate.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working on large applications within the financial services industry and have a good working knowledge of the software development lifecycle.

The successful candidate would have high level communication skills and be able to produce solution documentation to a high standard. They should be have the skills to mentor and motivate a team, fostering a high attention to detail and the ability to establish effective working relationships with clients and/or business representatives.

The candidate must be able to work calmly and effectively under pressure being aware of time constraints where appropriate such as legislative and / or client driven deadlines.

The Role

* Management of a team of systems analysts

* Allocation of work within the team

* Work closely with clients and/or the business to identify and analyse sometimes complex requirements

* Produce solution documentation to include data flow diagrams and physical database design

* Facilitating workshops with SME's (Subject Matter Experts)

* Produce implementation guides

* Identify issues and risks

Qualifications: The Requirements

* Bachelor’s degree in IT or equivalent experience in development and support of Financial Services Applications is essential.

* Relevant experience as a Systems Analyst on large and complex projects within an insurance, claim processing or pensions industry.

* Experience of overseeing/managing large system changes

* Able to grasp new concepts quickly, demonstrating understanding of the implications of technical issues on business requirements and / or operations, and ability to work independently and as a member of the team

* Skilled at producing application and business requirements

* Strong analytical skills with good data analysis experience

* Strong business/client engagement skills

* Relational Databases (to include having SQL Skills)

Qualities / Attributes

* Subject matter expert in Insurance and/or Pensions Administration Systems. The candidate must have strong technical skills in producing solution documentation to include database design

* Ability to manage a team of system analysts, providing motivational leadership

* Understanding of Investment trading with Fund Providers

* Understanding automated payments processing

* Ideally to be familiar with web architecture and object oriented design plus web services

* Author detailed solution documentation and technical specification documents

* Deliver functional, technical, and system specifications for complex business requirements in a clear and concise manner

* Convincing at presenting proposals by way of high level solutions to end users and/or stake holders.

* Co-ordinate support for user acceptance testing and participate in testing of new system functionality

* Collaborate with architects, developer and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyse trade-offs between usability and performance needs

* Maintain system test documentation to ensure completeness
