Product Development Engineer - Semiconductors
Location: Bedford, Bedfordshire (Relocation available)
Salary: £40-45,000 + Benefits

The Company is a key division of the Bourns Electronics Group, which is a significant player in the global market for Electronic Components and Integrated Solutions.

This exciting and challenging position is a key role for the continued and future success of the Telecom Division of Bourns. An integral member of the Bedford Engineering team, this position will report directly in to the Product Engineer.

As a Product Development Engineer you will support the product design/development of new power semiconductor devices from product definition to production release. This would include Project Management, costing, qualification, characterization, yield analysis and documentation. In addition, the role includes responsibility for sustaining existing product lines with cost reductions, quality issues and customer application support. The role will involve working with the design, test engineering, quality and production engineering groups within the Company, both locally and globally.

Position Requirements: Degree level, or equivalent, from an accredited college, or university, in Engineering or Science.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the following disciplines:

Essential:
• Analog electronic circuits and devices; preferably including experience in HF and power
• Semiconductor device operation; preferably including some experience in the manufacture of these devices
• Basic knowledge of semiconductor device fabrication as it pertains to diodes and transistors
• Knowledge of semiconductor device assembly and packaging techniques
• Knowledge of electrical measurement techniques and tools used in the analog circuit debug and lab bench work eg. Oscilloscopes

Desirable:
• Some knowledge of surge protection technology
• Some experience of working in device characterization, test, reliability and failure analysis
• Some knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards covering protection devices

The candidate must possess a combination of the listed skills acquired in similar positions throughout their career, as well as excellent attention to detail, accountability and creativity. You will be confident presenting to your peers and senior management, possess excellent PC skills as well as effective written and verbal communication skills, along with proven record of writing technical documents e.g. Datasheets, application notes.
