Technical Support Engineer/Customer Support Technician - Analogue and Digital Instrumentation
Due to expansion, an excellent opportunity has arisen within this highly respected technology company to provide technical assistance to global customers on an exciting portfolio of specialised digital and analogue instrumentation.
Based within Aldermaston offices, you will be responsible for supporting an international customer base, distributors, users and operators customers through remote diagnosis (pre-dominantly via email and phone) and deciding strategies on how to proceed with product repairs or support.
This is a customer facing role that requires a broad technical understanding including digital and analogue electronics, networking, mechanics, control and operating systems,
This will include:
* Working through a list of prioritised support tickets to provide a professional service to end users.
* liaising with the engineering department providing continuous feedback to improve product design and reliability.
* Learning about the broad portfolio of products and applications to be able to provide first and second line support.
* The opportunity to assist with day-to-day hands-on product repairs and tests (equivalent to your capabilities).
* Assisting with technical sales and product training.
* Opportunity to travel internationally over time to support field engineers in a hands-on Working knowledge of digital and analogue electronics.
* Supporting field services in a hands-on capacity requiring occasional international travel.
The preferred candidate will possess the following:
·Working knowledge of digital and analogue electronics.
·Familiarity with sampling theory and cybernetics (control theory).
·Logical, problem-solving mind-set.
·A Degree in Electronics/Electrical/Computer Science or related Engineering discipline or equivalent (would consider HND/HNC if experience in-depth and relevant).
·Practical knowledge of electrical troubleshooting methods and equipment.
·Basic knowledge of networking.
·Good maths and physics.
·Sound organisational skills with the ability to prioritise.
Desirable skills:
·Knowledge of IP/Wifi/GSM/ Serial networking.
·Knowledge of programming in at least one language.
·External/Field based support experience to overseas clients.
·Knowledge in mechanics and Linux basic commands.
·Multilingual.
Due to the location, own transport preferred, but there is a bus stop 10 mins walk away. Please note, that you must be living within a reasonable commute of Aldermaston, so Reading, Thatcham, Newbury, Basingstoke etc areas.
The position may ideally suit an Electronics/electrical/Automation engineering/ Computer science graduate, looking for a very interesting opportunity to learn lots of exciting technology, or someone in a similar customer support, service engineering, system integrator, networks specialist or applications engineering role in a niche high technology such as scientific instrumentation or medical equipment manufacture.
Salary up to £30k (Dep on rel skills/exp & qualification)+benefits package+ comprehensive product training and possibility of progression within an exciting global company
