R13 recruitment are working in affiliation with an Ofsted Outstanding graded, incredibly successful training provider to recruit for a Learning Support Assistant at their Dereham Centre. Supporting young people with a variety of educational needs, you will be responsible for delivering high quality advise, support and training; tailoring your approach dependent on each and every individual. You will be passionate about supporting young people who may be disabled, disadvantaged or dis-engaged with mainstream education to help them improve their employment prospects through the engagement of recognised vocational and key skills qualifications & training.
Duties to include:
* Supporting learners with academic and personal difficulties as required.
* Working one to one or with small groups of individuals with additional learning support needs.
* Ensuring learners access learning opportunities in a workshop / classroom environment.
* Planning personalised learning plans to meet learner needs, including preparing resources.
* Supporting tutors with lesson planning and delivery.
* Reviewing learner’s development to assure continued development and progress.
* Ensuring learners are supervised, dealing with misbehaviour and issues when appropriate.
* Liaising with learner’s parents and/or carers on a regular basis.
* Updating learner records to ensure they are accurate and follow compliance requirements.
* Attending annual review meetings, parents’ meetings and staff meetings when necessary.
* Covering for absent members of staff when required.
* Contribution for internal team meetings, providing expertise on learner wellbeing.
You will have/be:
* A passion and desire to help support young people to improve their prospects.
* Experience of supporting disadvantaged / disabled young people.
* Ability to adapt and tailor your approach to meet a variety of audiences.
* In receipt of willingness to achieve Level 2 Functional Skills in English & Maths (or GCSE A-C)
* A desire to undertake additional relevant qualifications (IAG / PTLLS / Teaching)
* Able to handle challenging behaviour and stressful situations calmly, patiently and reassuringly.
* The ability to encourage, support and motivate learners.
* Organisational skills coupled with the ability to prioritise workload.
* Capability to work to tight deadlines in a pressured environment.
* Strong team working skills.
**You will be required to undertake an enhanced CRB check for this position**
This is a full time permanent role. Offered salary of up to £19,000 DOE.
