Job Title: English Tutor

Employment Term: Full time, Permanent, 9.00am – 5.00pm Fridays 4.00pm

Location: Blyth, Northumberland

Salary: £19,000 - £25,000 plus enhanced holiday entitlement

Estimated Start Date: ASAP

We are looking for a qualified tutor to deliver GCSE and Functional Skills English within our two centres in Blyth and Cramlington Northumberland.

Delivery to our Study Programme students aged 16 – 18 supporting them in gaining GCSE and Functional Skills qualifications.

Delivery to our alternative curriculum students aged 13 – 16 supporting them in gaining Functional Skills qualifications from entry level to level 2.

Skills4U offer young people the opportunity to gain academic and vocational skills supporting them in reengaging in mainstream education and supporting post 16 students to progress to Traineeships, apprenticeship training, employment or further education

As the ideal candidate you will have delivered GCSE and Functional Skills English to young people who may present challenges, your delivery will be creative and engaging to ensure young people achieve their personal goals. You will have experience of planning and teaching the curriculum, as well as differentiation. You will have knowledge of the marking systems, recording evidence and assessment.

The above is desirable but above all we are looking for the successful candidate for the role of English Tutor to have the following:

Minimum of Level 4 Teaching Qualification

*

Minimum of Level 2 Maths and English Qualifications

*

In depth understanding of and commitment to safeguarding

*

Experience delivering GCSE and Functional Skills

*

Diagnosing learners literacy needs and requirements by using various teaching aids

*

Excellent organisation skills

*

Experience of a range of approaches to working with hard to reach and difficult to engage young people

*

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

*

Delivering training to groups of young people following the programme curriculum, setting objectives and targets for achievement

*

Able to demonstrate Good and Outstanding teaching practice.

*

Completing review paperwork and recording learners' progress

*

Ability to plan and manage own workload, achieve agreed targets and evaluate outcomes

*

Actively participating in continuous improvement and self- assessments and the implementation of subsequent action plans

*

Providing appropriate encouragement, guidance and support to learners to help them progress

*

Self-motivation and self-confidence and ability to use initiative when required

To be successful in this role, you will need to be qualified to DTTLS/Cert Ed/ PGCE (or equivalent) and have experience in teaching Functional Skills and GCSE’s, particularly with disaffected young people.:
