This company has an urgent requirement for MS SQL DBA with 3-5 years of experience.

Job Outline
Looking for a suitable candidate who has a minimum of 3- 5 years' experience as a DBA in Microsoft SQL Server, with 2008 R2, 2012 and 2014 as a minimum and preferably 2016 as well. Experience of SSIS and SSRS is highly desirable.

Professional service background with good lateral thinking and communication skills. Working within an Agile Environment. Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with great attention to detail. Confident communicator, with the ability to liaise with technical colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.

Duties and responsibilities
- Relevant experience of SQL Server 2008R2, 2012/2014/2016
- AlwaysOn and mirroring
- SSIS &/or SSRS
- Clustering and failover
- SQl Server/database security
- Virtualisation (with SQL Server)
- Performance Tuning and Troubleshooting
- Design, installation, capacity planning, log management, backups etc.
- T-SQL coding (if possible), and Scripting
- ITIL best practices (ideally)
- Wintel platforms/Windows Server
- Playing an integral role in delivering high quality solutions in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2/2012/2014
- Contributing to Agile meetings, including planning, review, retrospectives and daily stand ups
- Using Agile tools and techniques to manage workload and collaborate within the team
- Where necessary supporting, enhancing and refactoring stored procedures, triggers and user defined functions for existing applications
- Demonstrating and following best working practices in the use of technologies, keeping up to date with and communicating developments in the industry
- Understanding, demonstrating and encouraging software craftsmanship

The right candidate will be experienced in the development, support and administration of: stored procedures, triggers and user defined functions in Microsoft SQL server 2008 R2, 2012 and 2014.

The candidate will also be responsible for the on-going maintenance of databases, ensuring backup integrity and supporting the department's disaster recovery strategy as well as the migration of databases to new environments

Essential skills:
- SQL Server 2008 R2, 2012, 2014+ server and database administration
- SSIS and SSRS administration
- AlwaysOn and mirroring
- Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services
- PowerShell
- Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services- Understanding of database design and architecture

Desirable skills
- T-SQL scripting
- SQL Server high availability/Clustering and disaster recovery technologies
- Spotlight for SQL Server Enterprise (or similar monitoring tools)
- Agile (Scrum or Kanban)
- Team Foundation Server
