Manufacturing Engineer - Fabricaton
We have an exciting opportunity working for a leading manufacturer in aerospace components.
Purpose of Role:
The position of manufacturing engineer requires creative, analytical and developmental thinking as well as qualifications and experience in a relevant field of manufacturing. The design, planning, documentation, implementation, optimisation, and supervision of manufacturing processes are key requirements of the job. An essential skill is the ability to communicate with workers involved in all stages of manufacture. Enthusiasm, cooperation and a positive outlook as well as a thorough understanding of the technology and manufacturing concepts involved is important, as is the ability to prioritise.
Main purpose of job
Provide technical & engineering support for all aspects of the manufacturing process.
Ensure engineering and quality requirements for products are fully understood and met
Thorough analysis of process / tooling design and definition. Assist with tool design, manufacture, repair and purchase.
Create / maintain all documentation associated with the manufacture of components including route cards, BOMS and technical documents.
Create/Implement problem resolution and development plans to address longstanding production issues
Support Quality in the closure of QNs and NCRs
Support in the drafting/approval of concessions, rework sheets and all other documentation associated with operational activities
Produce estimates, technical and manufacturing proposals to support bids
Undertake special projects as requested
Implementation of capital investment projects
Develop, implement & Monitor "Best Practice" lean manufacturing processes to achieve Business goals.
Provide leadership and manage change to drive through improvements
To provide cover for other engineering disciplines as requested.
Experience and Skills
Experience in sheet metal forming and fabrication techniques preferably within an Aerospace environment including forming using press tools and/or brake pressing, stretch forming, general fabrication (hand making of parts), welding (TIG and spot/seam welding), riveting and heat treatment.
Knowledge of cold forming or hot forming.
Solid understanding of aerospace materials - titanium, nimonics, stainless steel & aluminium
Able to interpret and apply engineering, quality and H&S standards
Strong understanding of engineering drawings
Understanding of Aerospace specifications and approvals - working to AS9100
Knowledge of aerospace procedures and documentation including the creation of FAIRs, production permits/concessions, PFMEA's, etc.
Demonstrates a pragmatic approach to problem solving
Self-motivated, organised with excellent time management skills
Engineering/manufacturing focused with a commercial awareness
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Excellent interpersonal skills
Computer literate including MS Office and MS Project applications
