Job DescriptionIT Directors / CTOs / CIOs: Entrepreneurial IT Directors / CTOs / CIOs are required to work closely with CEOs and Managing Directors of SME sized businesses (£5m-£50m) across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Lincolnshire and Norfolk providing strategic and practical IT advice to ambitious fast-growth companies and externally-backed start-ups.

This is a 'Portfolio Career' opportunity for an experienced IT Director / CTO / CIO seeking to work closely with a number of SME clients, working 12-15 days per month (exact days to suit) at client sites or from home. The candidate will join a fast growing collegiate IT Consultancy and serve their clients, working relatively independently but with the full support of the Regional Director and team of fellow IT professionals.

Excited by the entrepreneurial, passionate world of SMEs, and fast-growth start-ups, IT Directors should be capable of:

- Quickly understanding businesses and creating IT strategies relevant to SME CEOs
- Providing direction to IT teams whether they are in-house or outsourced
- Helping drive business growth through change and innovation
- Project management and post project benefits realisation
- Developing and enhancing communications between IT teams, suppliers and your clients
- Working across the entire IT spectrum including infrastructure, business systems and online.

The IT Director / CTO / CIO should be enthusiastic with a positive consultancy style approach, and relish the challenge of working on a range of strategic and operational IT issues in growing businesses. The ability to be assertive, compelling, and handle SME CEOs and Managing Directors with tact is essential. Most of the work involves providing clients with an embedded IT Director a few days a month including ad-hoc projects.

Applicants will need to develop client accounts and become embedded in their business. This consultancy is often hired by referral, so it is essential that you can quickly create and maintain successful relationships with clients.

Skills & Experience:
- Proven (15+ years) senior IT Director, CTO or CIO level experience within the enterprise/corporate space
- Experience of leading and managing all sectors of IT
- Experience in a variety of industry sectors
- Board level working, meetings, presentations and discussions
- Outsourcing and supplier management
- Budget and cost management
- Empathy with the challenges facing MDs of fast-growth SMEs and start-ups
- Previous experience consulting within the SME sector (desirable)
