I am working closely with an international consultancy that are looking to heavily increase their Stafford Highways Team. They are looking for engineers with 3 to 7 years industry experience working on Local Authority Active Travel, BRT, Junction Improvements and road alignments.

This office has a fantastic partnership with a county council and has been working with them for over 20 years to deliver schemes such as a multi-million pound relief road, numerous Cycelways and Bus Route Priority lanes and S278's.

They are looking for Highways Engineers to assist the Senior and Principal engineers in the detailed design and delivery of these schemes. They are looking for engineers that are career minded, technically gifted but still willing to learn new skills and grow as an engineer. If you have experience of using Civil 3D this will really help when applying but if you don't, please do not be put off applying as they are willing to offer second to none software training on Civil 3D and others like MicroDrainage and CAD 2D/3D.

Highways Engineer Responsibilities:

Produce highway drawings packages including materials, construction details, calculations, and documents
Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, Road Safety Audit briefs, public correspondence, and other written documents
Undertake site visits, inspections, and supervision
Attend and lead meetings and discussions with elected members, the client, and other designers
You'll produce technical reports and designs to encourage and increase sustainable transport use
Undertake consultation (both Statutory and non-statutory) concerning proposed highway projects
Provide support and progress updates to the Senior Engineer
Engage with and support Senior Engineer when working with third-party stakeholders
Actively seek to reduce carbon through innovative designs
Liaise with other Engineers within the design team to ensure compliance with all relevant technical standards.
Highways Engineer Experience Required:

Ability to manage own time effectively and be able to prioritise your workload
Ability to work well in a team environment and independently with limited supervision
Have a Bachelors or Master's degree in an appropriate subject
Knowledge of Manual for Streets, LTN 1/20, and the relevant sections of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges and the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions
Completed (or agree to) a formal training agreement leading towards Chartered Engineer status as defined by the Engineering Council and agreed on a realistic programme towards achieving a professional qualification, or alternatively have achieved Incorporated Engineer status as defined by the Engineering Council
Have an appreciation of technical governance procedures and how they are applied within a consulting engineering environment
Can demonstrate developing experience and expertise within the relevant technical field, probably gained in an Assistant Highways Design Engineer role or equivalent
You can produce or oversee the production of technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements, working under supervision
You can demonstrate an understanding of technical governance procedures within a consulting engineering environment
