Do you have experience using Point of Care medical devices? Are you able to work on your own initiative as well as being a part of a wider team? Can you commit to at least a six month placement?

NHS Professionals have exciting opportunities for an Associate Practitioner to support our client trust. You will be responsible for processing laboratory tests on patient samples in any of the sub-sections of the laboratory rotation. The Trust needs staff who are competent in the accurate and safe use of complex analysers and be able to carry out routine maintenance and performance checks. You will work as a valued member of a team, deputising for more senior staff as appropriate
Stoke Mandeville is the biggest hospital in Buckinghamshire providing emergency and specialist treatment. It's where you'll find their Accident & Emergency department, as well as maternity services, critical care, eye services (ophthalmology), and our burns and plastics unit. The internationally-renowned National Spinal Injuries Centre is one of the largest specialist spinal injuries units in the world. You will be mainly working at Stoke Mandeville but in addition will be required to work at High Wycombe and Amersham Hospitals.
RESPONSIBLE FOR:

To follow Standard Operating Procedures and to participate in their regular review and update, as well as preparing, storing and using reagents and consumables in a manner suitable for patient investigations.
To maintain point of care devices and perform QC & EQA on point of care equipment.
Take appropriate action when there is a situation that may cause a service failure and to be able to calibrate, maintain and operate all relevant hardware.
Undertake routine technical validations of routine analytical results and ensure accuracy and precision as specified by laboratory protocols.
Be proficient in manual laboratory procedures such as precision pipetting and reagent preparation in addition to taking appropriate action when there is a situation that may cause a service failure.
To be successful in applying for this role you will need:

A 'Levels required as a minimum education standard or equivalent.
Good English speaker as will be required to communicate clearly and efficiently with patients and colleagues.
Experience using Point of Care devices is and essential requirement.
