The Financial Accounts function is primarily responsible for the internal and external financial reporting of group.
The individual will be Responsible for day to day management of the corporate bank accounts including updating of company cash-flow and processing of payments as well as computation of stocktake results, capex reporting, management of sales ledger and supporting in production of the monthly management accounts. The role will have strong links to the Profit Protection team, the Trading teams, the Property Department and the Group Treasurer.
This role reports into the Financial Accounts Manager and will demand the establishment of strong working relationships with other members of the Financial Accounts team.
The team works to strict reporting deadlines on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
The role will also require effective communication with external customers and banking contacts.Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities/ Actions:
To ensure complete, accurate and timely production of management information including monthly management accounts pack and supporting the annual statutory accounts
To ensure that payments are made and cash collected on a timely basis
To ensure that internal and external reporting deadlines are met
To ensure that variances to budget are understood and explained
To ensure that balance sheet control accounts are fully reconciled and that risks and opportunities are quantified and reported on a monthly basis
Updating the daily company cashflow
Processing online bank payments and transfers
Recording sterling and currency bank account transactions in the finance system
Sales ledger, including invoicing, cash collection/credit control, and production of weekly aged debtor reports
Monitoring store safe balances and performing month end reconciliation
Reporting and investigation of store cash shortages
Reconciliation of bank accounts, with reconciling entries followed up, at the most appropriate frequency for each account (daily, weekly or monthly dependent on volume of transactions)
Bank interest and fee accruals
Support for the Financial Operations Assistant with Fixed Asset processing
Support for strategic initiatives
Calculation of stocktake results
Month end accruals and prepayments
Analysis of variances
To provide absence cover for other members of the Financial Accounts teamNeed to know:
Minimum AAT part-qualified Preferably started CIMA/ACCA
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Experience of Aptos and Cognos Analyst advantageousKnow How:
Previous financial accounting background
Proven track record of attention to detail and ability to work to strict deadlines and prioritise tasks accordingly
Ability to analyse and challenge information provided
Ability to fully understand the present and future needs of the business and to adapt current processes to accommodate future growth
