The post holder will assist and support the Deputy Director of Finance and Head of Financial Services in the provision of an efficient and pro-active Financial Management Service. The post holder will also assist with managing financial services budgets, investigating and advising on highly complex issues and provides corporate reports/strategic financial and business planning advice in their area. The Financial Manager is an essential part of the finance team, taking the lead responsibility for their area including; helping to manage and advise on all financial matters, in particular:
* Monthly accounts, Integrated Performance Board report and returns
* Statutory Accounts and audit process
* Managing and reporting on capital expenditure
* Managing and reporting on the Trust's PFI
* Other ad hoc management and financial responsibilities
Manage the Financial Reporting staff, ensuring workload is appropriately balanced, that staff are adequately trained to perform their duties, that work is reviewed in order to ensure deadlines are met and high quality standards are maintained
Support completion of annual accounts with appropriate working papers and in line with Department of Health and external audit requirements ensuring all IFRS standards and timescales are met.
Liaise with the external auditors to ensure that all requests are dealt with in a timely manner and facilitate across department requests.
Creation of I&E, balance sheet, and cash flow, together with slides for the integrated performance report for the monthly board.
Preparation of monthly financial returns for external performance monitoring purposes.
Support the management and development of the financial ledger and other reporting systems, ensuring that the system is used to its maximum potential at all times
Provide financial advice and support to the CFO, Deputy Director of Finance, Finance Business partner and other budget holders in the financial management and control of capital programme.
Provide timely and accurate financial and management information to the relevant budget holders on a monthly basis to enable effective monitoring of the capital programme against the available budget.
Provide financial support and advice in the capital procurement of equipment and other assets
