Pertemps are working with a very unique and SEN school based in Effingham - looking to take on three enthusiastic and confident members to join their specialist supporting team, on a full time (or part time) basis.

This well located, rural based Independant School specialises in the provision of education for pupils with social & emotional mental health (SEMH) needs, between the ages of 8 and 18. This highly unique Primary & Secondary provision utilises a range of methods to provide the most individualised programmes for their select cohort of pupils, but have a particular vision that focuses on developing the social skills of their pupils through Therepeutic Intervention & Outdoor Learning - this would include the use of music, sensory games, acres of free roaming land, newly built resource facilities etc.
Most pupils will have a range of behavioural needs, in addition to autism, so we are looking to take on those who have developed patience as a virtue, empathy, and can display levels of calmness in what could be difficult & challenging situations!
School times are typically 8:30 to 3:45, but the school is somewhat flexible if you cannot start until 8:45 in the morning. This role will follow a Temp to Perm format i.e. Temporary with Pertemps Education for a set number of weeks (typically 13), followed by a contract of Permanent employment and onto a school salary if selected, otherwise the position will be ongoing an continuous under agency until you wish to leave the post
If you are already within SEN Education, but feel like your role as a Supporting member of staff has been reduced to being more of a 'sponge' and 'punch bag', rather than making a valued impact to the pupils social & academic ability, this could be the ideal role and ideal team for you. The staff here are warm welcoming and open minded, and would be happy to accomodate an informal visit at a preferred date of your own (within the month of March 2022). At this school, everybody understands that plans can fall apart at any moment, but can be overcome with the right mindset & fluid teamwork.
Please be aware the ideal candidate would:
- Be available ASAP or with 4 week notice or September 2022
- Own a DBS Enhanced Certificate (or be open to processing a new one with Pertemps)
- Have experience or studied knowledge at dealing with SEMH & ASC
- Kind disposition and understands that all children are individual and need to be adapted to
- Be available to informally meet with the school over the next 2 week period
- Be ready to provide a minimum of 2 year reference history
