Able Bridge Recruitment continue to work within the higher education sector in Scotland. A new senior management accounting role has been released for a well know and highly respected HE entity. Specifically, the organisation are internationally renowned for the work that they do within a specific research field although, they do also have a large commercial projects finance backing as well as some HE funding, grants and charitable income.
Our client is keen to hire a permanent applicant, however they would consider an applicant who is looking for a fixed term contract of 12 months.
The role will report to the Head of Financial Services and will have a number of direct reports.
The purpose of the role is to provide the organisation with key MI and expert financial planning. You managerial responsibilities will involve ensuring that timely and accurate financial and management information is provided and presented in such a way that key commercial decisions can be made by the leadership team.
On a day to day basis some of your responsibilities will be as follows;
Production of monthly management accounts and associated reporting pack (with commentary),
Manage financial control frameworks ensuring that all controls are robust, fit for purpose and as effective as they can be,
Review and revision of annual budgets, ensuring financial efficiencies are maximised,
Work closely with key senior stakeholders within the organisation (predominantly non finance),
Work closely with external parties such as auditors, delegate from OSCAR, or HMRC.
We are seeking a professionally qualified accountant who has demonstrable experience of working within a highly commercial and fast paced environment. This role will be a mix of business partnering and technical accounting as such we are seeking an individual who has the ability to do both. We are not expecting the successful applicant to have specific experience within the higher education sector, however it would be beneficial if they did have some exposure to the sector.
