Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service have an exciting opportunity available for a Head of Assets to join our team based in Salisbury with flexibility to work from home/DWFRS Stations/Support Office. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £53,281 - £58,817 per annum (rising by annual increments to £58,817).

What will you be doing as our Head of Assets:

We are looking for a Head of Assets in the Service Support Directorate. The role will be based at based at our Headquarters at the Five Rivers Health & Wellbeing Centre in Salisbury.

Responsibilities as our Head of Assets:

Develop and deliver strategies across the Assets department to ensure value for money and future sustainability, working with the senior leaders across the Service to monitor and regularly review performance and strategic direction

Oversee the project management of significant asset-based projects and initiatives, to ensure efficiency and value for money

Provide effective asset management following the principles of the International Standards Organisation's ISO55001 and Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors guidance on Public Sector Property Asset Management

Lead procurement activity to ensure appropriate legally compliant practices are in place and followed, with a focus on ensuring value for money

Lead the Service's approach to carbon reduction and greater environmental sustainability, in line with legislation and best practice, to meet current and future needs

The role has a significant travel requirement as teams are across the two counties

What makes you our ideal Head of Assets?

Significant experience within an asset management field at a senior level

Considerable knowledge and experience within public sector procurement

Experience of financial management at a senior level, including capital and revenue budget setting, planning & management and contract management

Experience of leading, overseeing and delivering large projects, including working with multi-disciplinary teams

A degree level qualification or ability to evidence equivalent experience

4 GCSE passes - Grade A*-C / 9-4, including English and Mathematics, or equivalent Level 2 qualification, or higher-level relevant qualification, and be able to provide evidence of this

You must have a full current driving licence

Use of your own vehicle will be required; however, a Service vehicle may be available
