World Class Defence Organisation based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire is currently looking to recruit a Systems Design Engineer subcontractor on an initial 6 month contract. Part-time and flexible working will be considered. The role will be a split of working from home and onsite

This role would suit a Systems Engineer who has been involved in Systems Design work from either the Defence or Aerospace industry.

Contract Duration: 6 Months initially and then ongoing thereafter
Hourly Rate: £70.00ph

Security Information: Please Note you must be eligible for SC Security Clearance (unfortunately due to security restrictions for this role, the candidate will need to be a British National with no dual nationality and must have resided in the UK for at least 4 of the past 5 years).

Systems Design Engineer - Brimstone Job Description:

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Systems Engineer to join a highly collaborative team on a
high profile air-launched weapon programme, currently in the development and manufacture phase.
The team are responsible for developing and certifying missile systems to challenging timescales using
an iterative Model-Based Systems Engineering Approach.

The responsibilities of this role will be the following:
Development and maintenance of the requirement sets using an iterative Model-Based Systems Engineering
Approach including application requirements in DOORS, Telemetry output definitions and Functional
Interface Definitions
Coordination of the multiple software points of embodiment for the missile through the functional strands
(on behalf of the functional stands manager)
In addition, this role will also be involved in supporting other group activities such as:
Status reporting into the Brimstone leadership team
Support to hardware trials and qualification planning
Sub-system compliance review and proving strategies
Requirement maintenance (for all project owned requirement specifications)
Supporting non-compliance assessment and handling

What we're looking for:
Highly capable Systems Engineering practitioner, ideally with experience across the full the Systems
Engineering lifecycle.
Experience of Model-Based Systems Engineering / SysML and use of Systems Engineering Tools such as
IBM DOORS and Rhapsody is highly desirable
Experience of Use Case analysis and Requirements specification
Ability to deal with uncertainty and short timescales
Planning and estimating skills required
Systems engineering experience (understanding of systems engineering practices and processes such
as the 'V' model, product lifecycles, systems definition and V&V)
Proven track record of delivering products
Adept at team working and remote working
