Job Title: PR and Media Manager

Location: Hybrid working, London or Milton Keynes

PR and Media Manager role:

We have a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious PR and Media Manager to work for up to 12 months initially to build and maintain a credible public image by securing positive media coverage for BSI.

You will join a diverse team whereby you'll be maintaining a four-pronged PR strategy spanning; press office, issue, and crisis management, thought leadership, spokesperson profiling and policy communications with a view to positioning identified BSI Knowledge Solutions Stream and the UK National Standards Body colleagues in the traditional, trade and digital media.

Key responsibilities as our PR and Media Manager:

Developing and measuring the impact of PR and media campaigns to support commercial objectives and strategic themes of the Knowledge Solutions Stream and UK National Standards Body aligned with overall brand BSI narrative, positioning and messaging.

Collaborating with the global PR agency, Brand team, Streams, Global Key Accounts (GKA) and sector teams (where appropriate) to deliver PR and media activity and campaigns.

Managing the BSI press office, including proactive and reactive activity, leverage existing media relationships, cultivate new contacts within traditional, trade and digital media publications, pitching proactive media relations campaigns and news stories, as well as developing all media content, messaging, and materials.

Organising and managing media training for thought leaders and subject matter experts presenting them as exemplars and advocates of best practice in line with our purpose and global strategic themes.

Proactive management of any reputational, issues or crisis management requirements affecting the Knowledge Solutions Stream and UK National Standards Body

Commissioning and/or writing perceptive, concise, and effective press releases, case studies, thought leadership articles, external statements, FAQ's, Q&As, features and other PR materials.

Working with the PR team and global PR agency to arrange and attend interviews with Knowledge Solutions Stream and UK National Standards Body spokespeople in the media, providing clear briefings on messaging.

Helping develop the group media policy and master corporate Q&A document supporting messaging consistency on sensitive topics for the organisation.

Skills and experience required as our PR and Media Manager:

Minimum of 5 years' experience in a public relations/public affairs position or media relations experience

Demonstrable experience as PR professional with strong media relations skills

Proven experience of developing and successfully executing media campaigns

Digital media skills

Experience of managing reputational issues

Degree level or equivalent (Ideally a recognized PR, media, public affairs or journalism qualification)

Excellent digital skills including frequent and extensive use of digital platforms and channels used in PR and PA
