Role: Account Manager
Location: Remote working, with customer visits around Midlands/East Midlands and Peterborough
Package: £38,000 - £45,000 + annual bonus + car + great benefits.
AD Energy are working with an established global Tier 1 supplier who are seeking a fantastic communicator and relationship builder, working with off highway/heavy duty customers. It would be useful for this person to have an engineering back ground and project engineering experience.
Job Description:
Main Purpose of the Job This role is to support commercial, project management and delivery related activities for customers such as CATERPILLAR and Cummins HD/Off Highway business and to assist in growing this business.
Main Tasks of the Job
• Handle daily project management, commercial and delivery queries emanating from the customer and from within the global organisation.
• Solve those issues or establish how best to resolve them in conjunction with global offices and/or manufacturing sites worldwide.
• Ensure the appropriate and timely progression of projects, with reporting and escalation as required to Sales management, to head offices and manufacturing sites.
• Input into related areas of sales planning process.
• Identify and progress areas of business expansion in conjunction with management.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Personnel
No direct supervisory responsibilities but able to work on own initiative and with others.
• Resources
After training period, responsible for day-to-day tasks within the scope of account management including debt control of the components/accounts, plant and customer logistics issues and commercial task management, efficient use of all available resources and manpower to progress work successfully.
• Planning
Planning: deriving, agreeing and implementing short and medium-term plans for effective project control (engineering and commercial). Contributing towards longer term and strategic planning in conjunction with management.
• Decisions
Commercial decisions will need managerial consultation/approval. Day to day project and account management decisions mainly with the jobholder (for major decisions in this area managerial approval should be sought), adherence to Sales Procedures relating to the boundaries between jobholder and line manager. Additional authority will be delegated as soon as relevant capability has been proven.
Supervision:
Reporting to the Heavy Duty/Off Highway Sales Manager.
Contacts:
Daily contact with peer group and management, other offices and plants. With customers (OEM and Tier 1s): Daily contact face-to-face, by e-mail and by phone, with working level and lower management levels.
Working Conditions: Either based at UK's office in Coventry (Hybrid) or home working. Travel as required to customer sites and occasional travel to other offices/Plants.
Person Specification
Education/Qualifications:
Degree in Business or other relevant commercial area. or Engineering degree: preferred to be in Mechanical, Automotive, or similar but could be in Electrical/Electronic or other.
Training/Skills:
Familiar with all standard Microsoft Office applications, TEAMS and the effective/efficient use of e-mail.
Work Experience/Knowledge:
Essential: Awareness of automotive/HD industry practices experience in a related area such as technical sales or project management, in an OEM or major Tier 1 supplier, possibly gained through industrial placements.
Desirable: 1 year automotive (or similar) industry experience. This could have been gained pre, during or post the degree study period. Experience of customer/supplier environment. Exposure to change management processes. Exposure to APQP (or similar) process. Commercial awareness (e.g. sales planning, pricing, negotiation).
Special Aptitudes
Clear thinker & good/clear communicator. Must have initiative and ability to work by themselves while also understanding when to seek consensus. Good at problem solving (logistical, delivery project management and commercial).
Disposition
Essential: Liking for negotiation. Excellent relationship builder, dependable, enthusiastic, persuasive, credible, pragmatic, consistent. Able and willing to create an overall scenario which "brings the team with them"; must NOT demonstrate a maverick or "lone-player" attitude.
Desirable: Able to understand and to interact with different cultures. Able to work with different levels of management for engineering and commercial issues.
Interests
Automotive/HD industry, motor vehicles and machines in general. Understanding different cultures.
Circumstances
Flexible, able to work additional hours as required, able to work overseas for short periods (normally 2-3 days, up to 2 weeks on rare occasions).
