My client is a secondar academy based in East London, looking to recruit a Deputy Finance Director to support the Finance Director with the day to day accounting needs of the school.

This role will look after two junior members of staff, helping them with all the transactional accounting needs of the school. You'll lead on the monthly reporting of cashflow, income and expenditure as well as further analysis on that data for the purpose of keeping the SLT informed. You'll also keep a keen eye on processes and controls, looking for improved and better ways that finance can operate across the school. The other part of the role then works closely with the Finance Director in aligning the schools growth ambitions to the short and medium term financial strategy. That may be projects looking into revenue generation, or spending efficiencies, so your ability to analyse, report and interpret financial data will be required.

This is a role with plenty of scope to develop the post in the future.

A fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) is an essential requirement for the post with Schools or Education experience hugely favoured, but candidates from public sector or third sector would also be considered. IT literacy, with a particular interest in financial reporting would be required. The role will be based on site for five days a week.
