Finegreen are working with an NHS organisation, based in the East of the UK who are looking to appoint a Patient Safety Facilitator on an interim basis for 3 months initially.

The post will required 2 days per week on site and 3 days working remotely. The hourly rate will be between £24.59 - £29.53, working inside IR35 (through an umbrella solution company).

The post holder will have specific responsibility for assuring that incidents, serious incidents and near misses are reported and investigated.

Key responsibilities will include:

Provide training on patient safety issues, clinical risk and incident reporting and investigation to clinical and non-clinical teams;
Ensure learning from all types of incident investigation is shared across the organisation and results in sustained change and improvement to patient care across the organisation and all the services the organisation provides;
Review Datix Incident Reports and escalate any incident reports of concern to the Patient Safety Lead or Risk Manager for further review and action;
Provide advice and information on incident reporting, review & management as well as on wider patient safety matters using a range of media/communication methods;
Provide and receive complex information where agreement or co-operation from NHS staff at all levels of the organisation is required;
Liaise with service users, relatives/carers, members of staff, and external agencies in a respectful and efficient manner;
Work with the Patient Safety Co-ordinator and Clinical teams to ensure that all newly identified serious incidents are reported to the organisation via the STEIS system within 2-working days and if required notified to the organisation;
Co-ordinate the internal process of serious incidents reporting and investigation to achieve the organisations response and quality performance standards;
Contribute to the analysis of incidents, serious incidents and near miss trends and use analytic skills to ensure that the learning required to minimise risk is clearly identified;
Implementation of NICE guidance and other statutory / best practice guidelines.
The ideal candidate will have:

Experienced working within the NHS/ a healthcare setting;
Expertise within Patient Safety, Serious Incidents, and use of Datix;
Able to write detailed reports and present findings;
Create and maintain effective working relationships with staff at all levels, internal and external, NHS and non-NHS organisations;
Able to demonstrate commitment to high quality care and service provision;
Clear communicator with excellent written and verbal skills.
