Our client is a leading precision manufacturing business based in Crawley and are in the need of a Procurement Manager (Official title is Sourcing Manager) to join the team. The Sourcing Manager oversees the creation and implementation of sourcing strategies on the main categories of responsibility. This involves looking at ways to commercially leverage and optimise what we buy, who we buy it from and how we buy it. Working in tandem with the Purchasing Manager (and other key stakeholders) to drive improvement in supply chain performance and help the company achieve Revenue Targets, Margin Enhancement, Working Capital Improvement, and strong Operational Performance.

Main candidate background requirements

Ideal candidate is an experienced Sourcing Manager / Senior Buyer OR an Engineer looking to transition to a more commercially focused role
Degree OR CIPS qualified is preferred
Experience of working in a manufacturing environment is essential, preferably electronics
Some knowledge or experience of using MRP systems is preferred
Practical experience of operating in an international business environment is preferred
Proficiency in MS Office, with ability to analyse data and KPI's, presenting and articulating results and trends
Ability to work across a team and multi-site environment is essential
Ability to travel to key suppliers when required is important (mainly UK - expect 2 trips per month)Main duties
To be the established authority on all Procurement activity (i.e. Sourcing + Purchasing) related to categories of responsibility, mainly:

PCB blanks
Power supplies
Plastic mouldings
Other custom components
Be visible and have an active presence with key external stakeholders at our suppliers, as well as build a network with key internal stakeholders in Sales, NPI, Planning, Purchasing and Operations
Develop and implement clear sourcing strategies
Analyse and manage expenditure profile per category and suggest methods to reduce costs (including supplier negotiations, 'off-AVL' and Best Cost Country supply opportunities)
Identify and develop strategic supply partners, negotiating and implementing cost-effective contract agreements that govern supplier/customer relationship
Consolidate spend with strategic supply partners and foster closer working relationships that increase value for both companies
Working with the Purchasing team to ensure that Purchasing Orders are assigned to the correct vendors and to any agreed commercial terms
Review inventory profile per category and identify areas to improve working capital performance
Review supply chain arrangements and promote more efficient ways of working
Tracking Procurement KPI dashboards / trackers to ensure ownership, action and improvement on the following:PPV

Supplier On-Time-Delivery (OTD)
Supplier Quality
Supplier Payment Terms
Lead supplier review process with strategic supply partners, tracking OTD and Quality performance and driving improvement plans
Supporting the Purchasing team on any potential material supply constraints, then working with key internal stakeholders and vendors to mitigate the risk
Review and maintenance of all MRP parameters (including leadtimes) to ensure correct set-up in the IFS system
Assist with the development and implementation of company Procurement policies

Working hours 8am-5pm Monday to Thursday and early finish Friday (8am-1pm)
25 days holiday plus banks, plus x4 paid Fridays off work throughout the year (25 days + 8 banks + 4 Fridays a year totalling 37 days a year)
