Role Purpose Statement:
To maximise the operating efficiency of the plant and to maintain the assets of the site, by coordination and planning of internal maintenance resources and outsourced human resources, preparing material needs and coordinating machine availability with other departments, in an environment where behaviours are underpinned by Knauf values:
Planning and preparationFull responsibility for engineering craftsmen team planning activities, ensure work is prepared and planned at best possible time in coordination with other departments expectations; manage all maintenance requests / notifications and historical backlog. Create daily and weekly plans, prioritise and communicate effectively. Prepare for each job: materials, tools and procedures before planned date.
Continuous ImprovementDefine and maintain maintenance KPIs and ensure communication is up to date keeping Cwmbran CI model aligned with guidance from the CI manager.
Contractor ManagementManage contractors and resources in order to achieve planned jobs to complete the required maintenance tasks. This role is responsible for facilities management.
Purchasing Ensure all parts, materials and contracts purchases follow KI procedures, with the right involvement of the purchasing department for best possible cost negotiation.
Store managementWith support from the store person and engineering team ensure workplace organisation standards are kept and help define the right stock levels and lead times in order to maintain a low working capital with the necessary available parts in stock.
Your internal and external customers/suppliers and the service you give or receive from them and the scope for continuous improvement and improved service levels:
Manufacturing Team: Work actively with the Engineering, Maintenance and Manufacturing Team to ensure that there are integrated processes, based in the concepts of Total Productive Maintenance, to ensure process equipment is achieving performance levels in terms of targeted OEE.
Technical Team: Ensure liaison with the Technical Team, either directly or indirectly via process leadership, to highlight "difficult to solve" problems which are impacting performance measures across all site processes. Work actively with the Technical Team to ensure the provision of insightful and sustainable solutions which empower both the process leaders and the shift teams.
Continuous Improvement Team: Work closely with the CI Manager to ensure that there is the opportunity to maximise opportunity for building an environment of sustainable improvement. Ensure that all CI Initiatives and process changes are sustained and embedded within the maintenance team.
HSSE Team: Work closely with HSSE Manager to ensure system compliance to relevant Standards is maintained at all times.
Purchasing Team: Liaise closely with the Purchasing Team to ensure support for all efforts to improve upon cost targets by reducing raw materials, working capital and tooling costs. Facilitate clear channels of communication with respect to all raw materials and tooling supply to ensure that supply issues never impact the achievement of functional and business targets.Role Content:
Review all maintenance requests/ notifications entered in SAP (and any additional sources) daily.
Assigns work requests needing planning and materials to planning backlog
Prepare weekly schedule and facilitate weekly scheduling meeting.
Create work orders (preventive, corrective and condition monitoring) into SAP to accept charges and close when complete
Generate work orders after preparing job, est. hours, kitting parts, etc.
Ensure quality work order is generated.
Ensure all safety, tools, procedures, and LOTO are included.
Visit the job site so all work and needed parts are identified properly.
Clarify where, what, when, how work is to be performed.
Prepare necessary parts
Ensure accuracy of equipment BOM, edit as needed
Facilitate and agree maintenance activity with production
Maintain integrity of PM program, i.e., checklists, trigger, frequency, compliance, and schedules
Works closely with the maintenance technicians on the continuous improvement of the maintenance plan proposing changes to preventive maintenance.
Establish and maintain equipment parts catalogue, equipment history, storeroom, min./max. levels
Coordinate with central shops
Review actual vs. plan on completed work orders
Coordinate special programs, i.e. ladder inspections, equipment surveys.
Identify recurring maintenance problems
Maintain maintenance key performance indicators for department.
Manage Supplemental Maintenance (i.e., contractors)
Monitor craft backlog
Establish trigger points for decision making
Management of skill levels
Maintain Liaison with Operations
Maintain communication throughout lifecycle of work order
Report delays and scope changes
Conduct follow ups
Provide feedback to stores so min. and max. levels can be established
Assist storeroom in developing job kits
Help drive effort to identify critical spares and inventory
Assist the storeroom in understanding inventory19. Managing the maintenance budget
Understand the budget requirements
Run reports to track labour and materials

Achieving the required production outputs, and production function targets, while developing an environment of sustainable improvement in terms of maintenance planning and preparation.
Providing excellent communication, with clear prioritisation, whilst ensuring the maintenance craftsmen are empowered in taking ownership for their achievements.
Leadership without any direct reports in order to ensure plan is completed.
Ensuring the full availability of the site assets in achievement of the production and maintenance targets.
Building a healthy professional relationship with all departments on-site. Ensuring these relationships are maintained, at all times, in the demanding, multi agenda, environment of a 24/7 manufacturing site.
Experience, Qualifications and Skills:
Recognized degree in engineering discipline or equivalent by experience.
Working experience 2 - 5 years
Leadership and communication style which is approachable and motivating, being engaging to individuals.
A demonstrable passion for Continuous Improvement and the ability to example cultural change within a Maintenance team.
Experienced and in-depth knowledge of SAP or any CMMS system.
An understanding of the fundamental principles of Continuous Improvement and the importance of providing the correct environment, in terms of culture and behaviours, to sustain improvement, and experience in creating such an environment.
Flexible and with a "make it happen" attitude.
Needs to be prepared to sometimes work and / or be disturbed outside of normal working hours and join a rotational night and weekend support scheme.
Salary: £36000+ depending on experience (& 10% annual performance related bonus)
