Autism Classroom Assistant

Autism Classroom Assistant required to work in a SEN school in Bridgend supporting learners with additional needs. The school supports pupils with a range of additional needs including profound and complex needs however, mainly Autism (ASD). The Autism Classroom Assistant must have experience supporting people with ASD either personal or working, and it is desirable that the successful candidate have experience supporting people who are nonverbal.

To work in schools in Wales staff must complete the following:

Enhanced Child/ Child and Adult Workforce DBS registered with the update service

Up-to-date registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)

Hold a level 2 Safeguarding Qualification - *FREE through Teaching Personnel*

The Autism Classroom Assistant must support students with learning by engaging students in lessons and ensuring students are understanding tasks. Classrooms assistant must be on hand to manage behaviour and reduce challenging behaviour. Autism classroom assistants must also support pupils with personal care, feeding and socialisation.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
